Jacquemus Opens First US Store in New York

As a fashion enthusiast who’s been captivated by Jacquemus‘ whimsical yet sophisticated designs for years, stepping into “The New York Boutique” felt like a dream come true! The brand’s first US store, located in the artistic heart of SoHo, is a perfect blend of Parisian chic and Provincial charm – just my cup of tea.

Jacquemus unveiled “The New York Boutique,” marking their inaugural US retail location. Situated in Manhattan’s vibrant SoHo district, the store construction commenced in November 2023 and was masterfully crafted by architecture firm OMA, working alongside Simon Porte Jacquemus.

The designer aimed to blend Parisian and rural aesthetics in the store, drawing inspiration from the area’s rich artistic heritage. Nestled within a 19th-century red-brick townhouse, the store expands over approximately 2,906 square feet (or about 270 square meters) across two levels.

In this redesign, OMA aimed for a cozy yet minimalistic aesthetic, incorporating light wood and white stucco. The floor tiles mimic patterns found in French castle courtyards, while custom-made clothing racks and stair railings were crafted by an Italian iron artisan. A splash of vibrant banana yellow is introduced through the curtains.

The furniture collection was thoughtfully assembled, showcasing pieces designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Jean Dunand, Bertrand Lacroix, along with artwork from Aristide Maillol, Joan Miró, Pierre Bonnard, Peter Schlesinger, and Wolfgang Tillmans.
