Jake Paul Already Has A Bigger Goal He Wants To Go After Following The Mike Tyson Fight

As a longtime boxing enthusiast and someone who’s seen countless fights unfold over the years, I find myself intrigued by the upcoming showdown between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul. It’s not every day we get to witness a legend of Iron Mike’s caliber stepping back into the ring against an unconventional opponent like Jake Paul.

In spite of initial doubts and queries about its feasibility, the proposed fight between Mike Tyson and Jake Paul appears to be moving forward once more. The legendary Heavyweight Champion seems to be in good health and eager to return to boxing, while Paul remains enthusiastic for what could potentially become his most significant fight yet – though it’s important not to label it as the climax of his career.

During the recent press conference at New York City’s Fanatics Fest, I was asked about my future in boxing after facing Mike Tyson, and let it be known, this isn’t the end of the road for me. I’ve been treading an unconventional path in the boxing world, battling other social media sensations initially, but make no mistake, I harbor aspirations to compete on a more traditional stage and aim for championship titles. Here’s what I expressed…

As a gamer aiming for the ultimate title, there’s no shortage of naysayers or big names eager to challenge me. Yet, Canelo Alvarez remains my goal, and I’m committed to carving out my path towards the world championship. And trust me, when I do, jaws will drop, and people will exclaim, “Wow, that kid did something extraordinary we never thought he could!”

Normally, it wouldn’t surprise anyone to learn that an accomplished fighter with a 10-1 record aspires to become a world champion. However, in Paul’s case, this ambition is particularly remarkable because it suggests a shift towards a more traditional career trajectory. Typically, when someone is new to boxing, they begin by taking on minor opponents in preliminary bouts. The victories from these fights help build their reputation and propel them up the rankings until they start fighting against more recognized opponents. If they manage to win those matches, they move on to face other top contenders and, with luck, eventually get a shot at a world championship and possibly even a main event slot in a pay-per-view event.

That’s not what Jake Paul has done up to this point, however. After beating up some of his fellow YouTubers and viciously KOing former NBA star Nate Robinson, Paul started fighting aging MMA stars with big resumes and light boxing experience in events his company organized and put on. To date, he’s fought and beaten the likes of Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, Tyron Woodley, all in highly publicized PPVs he’s assumedly made a very healthy profit off of. The next of those fights is against Mike Tyson, the biggest name of them all, and it promises to be the most publicized event of Paul’s career. It’s scheduled to take place in AT&T Stadium, which has a capacity of 80,000, and it will be streamed live on Netflix.

Mike Tyson is undeniably one of the most intimidating and esteemed heavyweight boxers ever, yet he’s approaching his 60th birthday and is around three decades older than Jake Paul. To accommodate this age difference, the rules have been adjusted, reducing rounds from three to two minutes each. The audience is uncertain about what to anticipate as Paul seems likely to enjoy a significant speed advantage, but may encounter issues if he encounters a powerful punch – considering his career has resulted in 44 knockouts.

Regardless, and with all due respect to Tyson who is an absolute legend, it’ll still be a sideshow attraction type fight. The jury is still very much out as to whether Paul can compete with real boxers his own age, especially since the one time he tried against Tyson Fury, he lost in a controversial split decision, despite knocking Fury down once. If he wants to pursue championships, he’s going to face a lot tougher competition, and that’s to say nothing of Canelo Alvarez, who he also called out.

In his boxing career, Alvarez holds a record of 61 wins, 2 losses, and 2 draws, and he usually fights at approximately 160 pounds. On the other hand, during his last bout, Jake Paul weighed around 200 pounds and is said to be aiming for either 220 or 230 pounds for his upcoming fight against Tyson. This means that Paul might consider fighting at a heavier weight class, which could potentially lead to a lucrative payday for Alvarez. However, such a match would likely be seen as a spectacle due to the significant weight difference between them. Alternatively, he could opt for the conventional route and compete against boxers of his own size instead.

We’ll simply need to observe and find out what Paul’s subsequent action will be. If he manages to defeat Tyson, he’d have a wide range of potential opponents at his disposal, allowing him to choose his path, whether it leans towards the conventional or something unconventional.
