This coming summer, I’ll be back on Broadway alongside James Corden, Neil Patrick Harris, and Bobby Cannavale for a fresh take on the classic play “Art.” Can’t wait to hit that stage again!
As a passionate gamer, I’m thrilled to be part of the team bringing back Yasmina Reza’s masterpiece, “Art,” translated by Christopher Hampton, for a new run. This play revolves around three old friends who find themselves embroiled in a heated argument about art, sparked by one friend’s purchase of an expansive, pricy, and entirely white painting. Directed by the talented Scott Ellis, this thought-provoking production will hit Broadway’s Music Box Theatre starting August 28, with our grand opening set for September 16.
The production is slated to play a 17-week limited engagement through Dec. 21, 2025.
The initial performance of this play took place on Broadway in the year 1998, with Alan Alda, Victor Garber, and Alfred Molina as the main actors. Notably, Alfred Molina was awarded a Tony Award for his exceptional performance as the best actor in this production.
James Corden is making his comeback to Broadway since his role in One Man, Two Guvnors in 2012, which earned him a Tony Award for best leading actor in a play. Previously, he hosted late-night television and has performed onstage in productions like The History Boys, with his most recent stage appearance being in the West End play The Constituent in 2024. Additionally, Corden has graced our screens in musical films such as Into the Woods, Cats, The Prom, and Cinderella.
Neil Patrick Harris, famously recognized for his part in ‘How I Met Your Mother’, was honored with a Tony Award for his lead performance in the 2014 remake of ‘Hedwig and the Angry Inch’. Besides this prestigious award, he has amassed an array of stage roles, such as those in the recent play ‘Shit Meet Fan’ and ‘Assassins’, which were presented on Broadway in 2004.
Cannavale has performed on Broadway in plays like “The Lifespan of a Fact”, “The Motherfker with the Hat”, and “Mauritius”, to name a few, and also appears in movies such as “The Irishman”, “Ezra”, and “I, Tonya”.
The show is brought to you by Michael Shulman from Sand & Snow Entertainment, along with ATG Productions and Gavin Kalin Productions.
Speaking for Adam Speers, Gavin Kalin, and myself, we’re excited about being the first to bring this legendary Tony-Award winning play back to Broadway. We have an incredible cast lined up: Bobby Cannavale, James Corden, and Neil Patrick Harris, all of whom are award-winning actors. This production will be directed by Scott Ellis, a true legend in his field. Since I first saw the original performance, it has left a lasting impression on me as a hilarious and poignant exploration of friendship, compromise, and the transformative power of art.
