As a die-hard comic book fan who’s spent countless hours poring over issues and speculating about upcoming storylines, I can’t help but appreciate James Gunn‘s casual attitude towards spoilers. While I’ve been known to rage at the slightest hint of a plot twist leaked online, his perspective on the matter is refreshingly pragmatic.

Although Marvel Studios is infamous for swiftly dealing with anyone who discloses secrets or spoilers about their forthcoming MCU films, DC, on the other hand, seems less concerned. Contrary to what one might anticipate, the confidentiality of projects like “The Suicide Squad” and “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” doesn’t seem to be a top priority for director James Gunn (as reported by Collider). Gunn expresses doubt over whether many leaked images truly reveal spoilers, and he also queries the extent to which such revelations actually affect most films and their audiences.

These days, it’s tough to steer clear of spoilers. Much like an effective trailer should, it managed to keep major plot points under wraps, unlike some films. Yet, there are more trailers yet to be released, meaning we’ll likely see additional footage from the movie in the future. However, one may wonder if trailers often serve as spoilers in many instances.

It seems that an initial trailer can effectively generate excitement for an upcoming movie. However, when multiple trailers and numerous TV spots are released, it might feel as though viewers have already seen most of the film’s key moments before even stepping into the cinema. Some films could benefit from withholding certain elements to keep audiences intrigued, and superhero movies are a genre that often falls under this category.
