However, it’s worth noting that James Gunn has already made adjustments to the storyline by retconning them out of the DC Universe.

As a die-hard cinema enthusiast, I found myself intrigued when James Gunn and showrunner Dean Lorey shared their thoughts on the latest character in the DC Universe, revealing their potential (or lack thereof) within this dynamic universe. In an unexpected twist, my likeness made a fleeting appearance during the opening credits, working on a laptop. It was a pleasant surprise to discover that I had been animated into the show without my knowledge. Lorey explained the decision, stating, “We thought it would be fun to give all characters little moments in the credits, and since James is like a character himself, we decided he deserved one too.” Upon learning about this delightful Easter egg, Gunn responded with genuine enthusiasm, expressing his excitement about being included in such a creative way.

Even James Gunn concedes it’s an unconventional beginning. The reason for choosing Creature Commandos as the inaugural DCU project is because it was already written and prepared before anything else. According to Gunn, the DCU officially commences next year with the release of Superman, featuring David Corenswet in the role of Superman.

Although there were some doubts about its role as an initial offering for the DCU, Creature Commandos has proven to be a powerhouse premiere. The new series has received exceptional feedback from critics, garnering a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite only having access to the first two episodes, fans have been quick to voice their opinions on the platform.
