The superhero genre remains a powerful force in the entertainment sector, with everyone eagerly anticipating James Gunn‘s plans for the DC Universe. The old DCEU (accessible through Max subscription) has been phased out, making way for a completely new shared universe. The initial significant DC film set to hit theaters is none other than James Gunn’s take on Superman, and the director recently gave us a tantalizing glimpse of one of the movie’s antagonists.
What we know about Superman is limited, which is why fans are so eager for more information about what’s to come. frankly, this glimpse just leaves me with even more queries. What role does The Engineer play in the narrative, given that there are other antagonists like Lex Luthor present? Additionally, I’m curious about the circumstances leading to her current state – was it a confrontation with David Corenswet’s character or perhaps another hero such as Green Lantern Guy Gardner or Hawkgirl?
Although The Engineer has appeared in comics for some time, she isn’t as widely recognized as other DC characters. This opens up numerous possibilities for James Gunn to explore with this character. With limited glimpses into Superman’s world up to now, it’s safe to say that speculations and fan theories about James Gunn’s vision will persist for quite some time ahead. Unlike a typical origin story, it appears that Clark Kent has already assumed the role of Superman, and even Krypto, his faithful super-dog, is part of the picture. However, we can only wait to discover how the director of Guardians of the Galaxy will give a unique twist to Superman’s tale as the story unfolds.
In the initial venture of the new DC Universe, it was the animated series “Creature Commandos” that paved the way. However, “Superman” will be the inaugural appearance of the fresh shard universe on the big screen. Given that the film is expected to present several superheroes, it’s likely to impact future projects too. For instance, Milly Alcock is set to appear as Supergirl in her first role, followed by starring in the DC blockbuster “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”.
