James P. Gorman To Lead Disney’s Succession Planning Committee

As a seasoned gamer with a knack for corporate intrigue and a keen eye for leadership, this news of James P. Gorman’s new role at Disney piques my interest! Having navigated countless virtual worlds, I can only imagine the challenges he’ll face in guiding such an iconic company as The Walt Disney Company.

James P. Gorman, currently serving as the Executive Chairman at Morgan Stanley, has been appointed to lead Disney’s team responsible for choosing their upcoming Chief Executive Officer.

Previously, Gorman was in charge of handling the succession plan at Morgan Stanley. Besides Gorman, Mark G. Parker, who chairs Disney’s board, and directors Mary T. Barra and Calvin R. McDonald are also part of the committee that will continue to function.

“Parker announced that James, known for his esteemed leadership and extensive succession planning expertise, will take over as the new head of our Succession Planning Committee. Given the Board’s high priority on succession planning and James’ strategic long-term perspective, he is ideally suited for this role. Parker expressed enthusiasm about working with James further on the Committee, as they continue to progress in finding and readying the future CEO of The Walt Disney Company.”

As a gamer, I’m pumped to team up with Mark and my other committee buddies, guiding the Board as we speed ahead with this project!

Gorman has announced he will be stepping down from his role at Morgan Stanley in December 2024.

More to come.
