Jamie Lee Curtis Deactivates X Account

As a seasoned gamer who has witnessed the evolution of digital platforms over the years, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and a tinge of sadness upon hearing Jamie Lee Curtis‘ decision to depart from Twitter. It seems like just yesterday we were all flocking to this platform, eagerly awaiting every tweet, every update, every interaction with our favorite celebrities.

Jamie Lee Curtis is saying goodbye to X (formerly known as Twitter).

On Wednesday, the actress posted an Instagram update showing that her account was no longer active.

May I find the peace to accept what’s beyond my control, the bravery to change what I can, and the insight to discern between the two,” Curtis wrote in his post.

While she didn’t explicitly explain her reasons for departing, her statement was made at a time when Elon Musk, who purchased Twitter in 2022, and Vivek Ramaswamy were announced as partners on an initiative called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). This initiative, which seems to reference “Dogecoin” and the “doge” meme, aims to restructure bureaucracy under the new presidency of Donald Trump.

Trump commented on the “DOGE” project, saying that these two outstanding individuals would help his administration streamline bureaucracy, reduce unnecessary rules, trim excessive spending, and reorganize federal departments.

Curtis’ action aligns with The Guardian’s decision to cease updates on their official editorial platforms. They believe that the advantages of staying on platform X no longer justify the disadvantages, and instead, they prefer to channel their resources towards showcasing their journalism in other venues.

The Guardian has been contemplating halting its presence on platform X for quite a while due to the frequently distressing content that is either promoted or discovered there, such as far-right conspiracy theories and racial discrimination.

In October 2022, I became the proud owner of Twitter, with a whopping $44 billion investment. However, things took an unexpected turn as the company started downsizing its content moderation teams, leading to a surge in bots, hate speech, harassment, scams, conspiracy theories, disinformation, and explicit content. This, in turn, caused advertisers to flee and revenues to plummet. Now, it’s reported that the social media giant is valued at a mere $9.4 billion.
