Jamie Lee Curtis is contributing a million dollars to aid in the recovery from Southern California’s destructive wildfires.
As flames continue to sweep through parts of California, I, as a gamer and a concerned citizen, feel compelled to take action. My family and I have decided to contribute $1 million from our foundation to help our beloved city and state during this critical time. Alongside the brave firefighters of @calfire and @losangelesfiredepartment, neighbors and friends are uniting in a powerful display of unity and support for one another. Together, we’ll rise above these challenges and stand strong for those who call California home. #CaliforniaStrong
She added, “I’ve been in touch with Governor Newsom, Mayor Bass, and Senator Schiff to decide where we should allocate these funds for maximum effect.
On Wednesday evening, Curtis appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”, visibly emotional as he recounted the extensive destruction in the Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Santa Monica regions. He started by saying, “I must inform you that my current residence is currently ablaze.

The entire city of Pacific Palisades is currently on fire. I arrived here last night, and as I was flying, I started receiving texts about the situation. It’s truly terrifying, to say the least. This disaster is unfolding in Southern California. The places that are dear to me – my local market, my children’s schools, and countless friends’ homes – are all at risk. Unfortunately, many of my friends have already lost their homes due to this fire. It’s a heartbreaking situation.
Fires broke out in Pacific Palisades on Tuesday morning, leading to the evacuation of over 30,000 people and charring approximately 15,800 acres thus far. Firefighters are presently combating six separate blazes, including the Eaton, Hurst, Lidia, and Woodley fires, in various parts of Los Angeles County. The evacuation order in the Hollywood Hills has now been rescinded.
I’ve just witnessed a devastating turn of events in the game world I’m playing. Over 1,000 buildings have been reduced to rubble, and tragically, five virtual characters, including Billy Crystal’s, Paris Hilton’s, Mandy Moore’s, Eugene Levy’s, Anna Faris’, Cary Elwes’, Spencer Pratt’s, Heidi Montag’s, James Woods’, Diane Warren’s, Cameron Mathison’s, and Ricki Lake’s in-game homes have been obliterated. It’s a heartbreaking loss for the gaming community.
Many events have been delayed or canceled, such as the premieres for “A Better Man”, “Unstoppable”, “The Last Showgirl” and “Wolf Man”, along with the Academy Award nominations and Producers Guild Awards nominations. Additionally, actress Jean Smart, who won a Golden Globe for her role in Hacks, has urged television networks to forego broadcasting upcoming Hollywood award shows and instead donate funds to those affected by the L.A. wildfires and firefighters.
