At the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, Janhvi Kapoor’s latest film, Homebound, was unveiled to a tremendous reception. The movie garnered an extended nine-minute standing ovation from the audience, leaving the cast and their families overwhelmed with emotion. This heartfelt moment was particularly noticeable on the face of Janhvi’s father, Boney Kapoor, who couldn’t hold back his tears. Janhvi’s sister, Khushi Kapoor, and her boyfriend, Shikhar Pahariya, were also visibly moved by the outpouring of admiration for the film.
In an online video, the Homebound group was captured embracing each other as applause filled the air. A few rows back, Boney Kapoor could be seen dabbing his eyes with a handkerchief. Khushi Kapoor offered a smile at her father’s emotional response. They all radiated pride for Janhvi Kapoor and the entire team. Shikhar Pahariya, Janhvi’s boyfriend, stood alongside Khushi, clapping enthusiastically.
In a touching scene, Boney Kapoor joined hands with producer Karan Johar and offered a warm blessing to Ishaan Khatter.

Homestay had its debut in the Un Certain Regard section at the 78th Cannes Film Festival on May 21st. It is vying for awards alongside movies such as Eleanor the Magnificent, My Father’s Shade, Sidekick, Sea Urchin, and others. The cast, which includes Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, Neeraj Ghaywan, and Karan Johar, graced the red carpet a day prior to the film’s screening.
Previously, during the unveiling of Homebound being chosen for Cannes, Janhvi Kapoor shared her joy on Instagram. She wrote, “A moment when Indian cinema dominates globally. We are proud to reveal that #Homebound is selected for the official lineup at the 78th Cannes Film Festival in the ‘Un Certain Regard’ section. Our hearts swell with pride and we can hardly wait to share this adventure on the big screens!
Shikhar Pahariya expressed high praise for her, offering relationship inspiration. He said, “She poured her spirit into her acting, and now it’s bound for Cannes. I can’t even express how proud I am. #JanhviKapoor (heart emoji).
