In an interview with DNA, actor Emraan Hashmi discussed potential plans to reboot the movie series “Jannat.” He mentioned that talks about this are currently happening, much like they were for the revival of “Awarapan.
The actor made clear they’re not keen on making a sequel simply for the sake of having one. Instead, they emphasized that a strong narrative idea is necessary before moving forward. Moreover, they mentioned that their team is still exploring the central theme, and hinted at the possibility of it being either about cricket or another tale involving a rebellious character with uncertain objectives. The final decision remains to be made.
During the same conversation, Emraan too shared insights about his career path and the impact of being labeled as a ‘rebel’ or ‘prolific kisser’ on his fame. As he sees it, these ambiguous characters played a significant role in his rise to stardom.
In his career, starting from his debut in Footpath in 2003, he’s shared that he never felt like a typical hero fit him perfectly. Instead, he found himself drawn to characters who made less-than-ideal decisions but remained relatable. He explained that these imperfect heroes often had a path to redemption, and this is what made the audience empathize with them.
Currently, the film titled Ground Zero is helmed by director Tejas Deoskar and jointly produced by Kassim Jagmagia, Vishal Ramchandani, Sundeep C Sidhwani, Arhan Bagati, Talisman Films, Abhishek Kumar, and Nishikant Roy. This movie debuted in theaters on April 25 and has received favorable critiques. Besides Emraan Hashmi, the cast includes Sai Tamhankar, Zoya Hussain, Mukesh Tiwari, Deepak Paramesh, Lalit Prabhakar, Rockey Raina, and Rahul Vohra.
