As a lover of both Hollywood drama and iconic characters from my childhood, I find myself intrigued yet apprehensive about the casting of Jared Leto as Skeletor in the upcoming Masters of the Universe reboot. On one hand, his penchant for Method Acting and his ability to truly embody a character have often left audiences divided – some praising his dedication while others bemoan his unconventional choices.
The reboot has chosen one of its main characters, and they’ve selected a highly debated Hollywood actor for the role. This actor will be taking on the villainous character of Skeletor. Known for his roles in Morbius, Suicide Squad, and other films, this actor has faced considerable criticism within the industry. He is frequently criticized for his method acting approach that deeply immerses him into his characters, as well as for supposedly “ruining” several characters, a claim made by audiences.
It’s quite intriguing that Jared Leto’s role as the Joker in live-action (Suicide Squad) mirrors Mark Hamill’s, as Hamill had voiced the Batman villain for years, and now, Hamill has lent his voice to Skeletor, following Leto in this animated Netflix series by Kevin Smith based on Masters of the Universe.
In a recent disclosure by The Hollywood Reporter, it’s been unveiled that Leto will star in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe. Additionally, they revealed that Sam C. Wilson has been chosen for the role of Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson will bring Goat Man to life, and Kojo Attah will portray Tri-Klops – four new characters joining the cast. Previously announced cast members include Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, and Idris Elba as Man-at-Arms.
