Jared Leto Nabs Skeletor Role in ‘Masters of the Universe’ Movie

As a 90’s kid who grew up with the iconic He-Man and Masters of the Universe series, I couldn’t be more thrilled about this latest casting announcement! Jared Leto as Skeletor, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops – these are some powerhouse actors bringing our childhood heroes to life!

The roster of actors playing villains in the live-action adaptation of Masters of the Universe by Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films has expanded to include Jared Leto, Sam C. Wilson, Hafthor Bjornsson, and Kojo Attah.

Leto assumes the character of Skeletor, Wilson takes on Trap Jaw, Bjornsson gets cast as Goat Man, and Attah lands the part of Tri-Klops. They all join Alison Brie in her role as Evil-Lyn, who serves as Skeletor’s right-hand man.

Previously declared characters for the series have been assigned; Nicholas Galitzine portrays He-Man, Camila Mendes takes on the role of Teela, while Idris Elba is cast as both Duncan and Man-at-Arms.

The specifics of the storyline are being kept secret for now, but it revolves around Prince Adam from the land of Eternia. When armed with his magical Power Sword, he transforms into the powerful He-Man, gaining extraordinary strength and abilities. Alongside a group of companions, he protects their world from the malevolent forces of Skeletor and his troops.

Travis Knight will direct the film, set to hit theaters worldwide on June 5, 2026.

In this rendition, the role of director for the Chris Butler-penned feature, which has its foundation in the David Callaham and Aaron and Adam Nee’s initial script, will be assumed by Knight. This film is a cinematic interpretation of “Masters of the Universe,” a property that originated from the 1982 toy brand and was brought to life through collaboration between Escape Artists and Mattel Films, taking inspiration from its enduring popularity.

The Masters of the Universe franchise spans platforms beyond toys to include TV and video games.

Jared Leto is managed by United Talent Agency (WME), while Wilson is handled by Insight Entertainment. Bjornsson is signed with Iceland Talent, and Kojo Attah is under the guidance of Felix de Wolfe Agency.
