The upcoming movie “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” within the DC Universe is generating buzz, despite being several months away from its release. Though production on this new addition to the DCU is ongoing, James Gunn has kept tight-lipped about project details. All we have so far is a single image showing the back of Milly Alcok’s head, leaving fans eager for more substantial previews. Even Sebastian Stan, known as Bucky Barnes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has expressed great anticipation for this upcoming DC film. When can we expect Gunn to share more about his project?
The upcoming “Supergirl” movie remains largely shrouded in mystery, but it appears that director James Gunn has had this plan in mind all along. We do know that the film will focus on Kara Zor-El’s origins and feature Jason Momoa as the villain Lobo, a character from the utopian planet Czarnia who is often depicted as a bounty hunter and slave trader in DC comics. Beyond this, fans have little information about Momoa’s role in the DC Universe, with details likely to remain scarce until Gunn releases an official trailer.
To put it plainly, the project is going to take some time since everything is happening in space. With ‘Superman,’ we had to film outside for extended periods due to scheduling constraints. We threw something together quickly under the circumstances. As for ‘Jason,’ I can’t say for certain. I don’t want to sound arrogant, but it’s uncertain. We’re not planning on shooting in London for weeks like we did with Lobo, so there’s no need to release a picture prematurely.
Some Fans Are Reading Too Far Into James Gunn’s Words
Despite some X users being notoriously uncivil, a few of them have expressed their opinions about James Gunn’s decision to not film outside, suggesting it will negatively impact the movie quality because they assume green screens will be used. One such user even referred to it as a “green screen extravaganza.” However, these remarks pale in comparison to the other comments sparked by Gunn’s statements.
Some fans find it hard to distinguish James Gunn’s work in the DC Universe from Zack Snyder’s previous films. Consequently, a few people found it amusing that Gunn mentioned he wouldn’t film outside, given that Snyder shot a Justice League scene at home during the peak of the pandemic. However, it’s highly unlikely that Gunn’s comment was about Snyder’s past DC movies.
It could be due to the scarcity of information or the unpredictable nature of social media discussions that fans are eagerly anticipating, whether to admire or criticize Gunn’s DCU (DC Universe). Fans have been kept in the dark about the film’s production, but they can take comfort knowing that skilled professionals like director Craig Gillespie and writer Ana Nogueira are involved with the project.
