It appears that Jason Statham consistently broadens his action repertoire, ensuring that his devoted fans will be satisfied for some time to come. Prior to David Ayer’s “A Working Man,” set for release in theaters next month, Statham has already secured his next project. He is slated to appear in an upcoming, unnamed action thriller where he will collaborate with actors from well-known franchises such as Star Wars and Pirates of the Caribbean. Indeed, he will be battling villains again and grappling with a treacherous past.
As reported by Deadline, action star Jason Statham has commenced filming on an unnamed movie directed by Roman Waugh, who previously worked on Greenland. The production company Black Bear is backing this project, and the cast includes Bill Nighy from Pirates of the Caribbean, Naomi Ackie from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, as well as rising talent Bodhi Rae Breathnach and Daniel Mays from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Statham himself will also take on a producing role for this project. Joining him behind the scenes are John Friedberg from Black Bear, Brendon Boyea from Cinemachine, former DC producer Jon Berg, and ex-Warner Bros. executive Greg Silverman.
In an as-yet-unnamed image, Statham portrays Mason, a solitary resident on a secluded Scottish island. When he saves a young girl from the turbulent sea during a fierce storm, this triggers a sequence of events that ultimately lead to an attack on his sanctuary, compelling him to return to society and confront the specters of his former life.
Jason Statham’s Next Slate of Action Films
Following the success of “The Beekeeper,” directed by Ayer, Jason Statham continues to thrive in the action genre without showing any signs of letting up. Notably, there are reports that a sequel titled “ The Beekeeper 2 ” is being developed and may start filming as early as this year once the Black Bear production wraps up. Given its global box office earnings of $152.7 million, surpassing its $40 million budget, “The Beekeeper” could become Statham’s next major franchise. Additionally, he is slated to return as Deckard Shaw in the eleventh and final “Fast & Furious” film, and may also appear in the Dwayne Johnson-led prequel, which will feature Jason Momoa alongside him.
Apart from his role in “The Beekeeper,” where he delves into a significant global conspiracy, Jason Statham is also set to spearhead a new action flick titled “Mutiny“. This film is the creation of Jean-François Richet, who previously directed Gerard Butler’s movie, “Plane“. Last year, Statham gave us a sneak peek of this film, showing him armed with a submachine gun, seemingly prepared to take down a gang of adversaries.
In the thriller “Mutiny”, the character named Cole Reed witnesses his wealthy businessman superior being brutally slain. Subsequently, Reed is falsely accused of the crime and forced into hiding while he attempts to expose a vast, global conspiracy.
