What Is ‘A Working Man‘ About?

The movie titled “A Working Man” is an action-packed story centered around a human trafficking case that needs resolution. The protagonist, Levon Cade, previously served in the Royal Marines but now focuses on construction work. Despite distancing himself from his old life, a crime involving those close to him compels him to rejoin the fray. Cade is employed by “Garcia & Family Construction,” where he shares a deep bond with the proprietors. In the trailer, he affectionately refers to them as family. When their daughter, Jenny, vanishes and the police are unable to locate her, Cade vows to find her.

In his quest to find Jenny, Cade stumbles upon a vast human trafficking scheme. “Gangs, mafia, crooked politicians, they’re all in on this,” he declares. The responsibility of taking them down and rescuing Jenny falls on him. His friend warns him, “You got yourself into this mess by using force. You’ll have to use force again to get out.” This line foreshadows intense action scenes throughout the movie.

‘A Working Man’ Brings Statham, Stallone, and More Together

In the action-packed world of cinematography, I find myself captivated by the film “A Working Man,” a production that boasts some of the genre’s most renowned figures. Among these heavyweights is none other than Jason Statham, who takes on the role of Levon Cade in this thrilling tale.

David Harbour, best known for his captivating portrayal of Chief Hopper in “Stranger Things” and the upcoming Marvel blockbuster “Thunderbolts,” lends his talents to the film as a visually impaired friend of Levon’s. Remarkably, despite his handicap, this character proves to be an exceptional fighter.

Joining this stellar cast is Michael Peña, a familiar face from the Ant-Man series. In “A Working Man,” he assumes the role of Cade’s superior, whose daughter goes missing in the storyline.

In addition to its on-screen talent, the movie “A Working Man” has garnered some behind-the-scenes recognition. The director of this film is David Ayer, known for helming “Suicide Squad” and “The Beekeeper”. As a die-hard fan of action flicks, I’ve got to say that Sly Stallone and Jason Statham have teamed up more times than I can count, with their unforgettable partnership shining brightest in the Expendables franchise. And when it comes to penning some epic action scripts, Sly’s no stranger to the task. In fact, he wrote the screenplay for the iconic Rocky, which earned an Oscar nomination, not to mention Homefront, where Statham took center stage. Interestingly enough, A Working Man was initially intended to be a TV series by Sly’s own hands, but it eventually became a movie instead. Balboa Productions, his trusty production company, is also involved in this project.

Initially titled “Levon’s Trade,” the movie A Working Man was originally based on a book by Chuck Dixon, but its name was changed in December. Dixon is known for creating action-packed comic series featuring characters like Punisher and Batman. Previously, he had collaborated with Stallone on rewriting The Expendables 2, but Dixon turned down the offer. Despite some minor alterations, the movie’s narrative remains largely similar to both the film and the book, so readers of the novel may spot a few differences when it hits theaters.

‘A Working Man’ Possibly Coming to Prime Video, Might Get Sequels

As a movie critic, I’d put it this way: If “A Working Man” proves to be a box office hit or a streaming success, there’s a strong possibility that we might see more of this gripping action tale. Given the legendary status of its lead actors, Jason Statham and Sylvester Stallone, who have both seen their fair share of sequels, it’s not unreasonable to expect that if “A Working Man” resonates with audiences as much as their previous works, Stallone, being one of the producers, might choose to continue the storyline.

Besides, there’s a wealth of tales waiting to be brought to life from Levon Cade’s saga. Over five books penned by Chuck Dixon for the Levon Cade series depict the protagonist evading authorities, battling ISIS, among other adventures. In the meantime, spectators can catch Statham battling human traffickers as A Working Man hits cinemas at the end of March.
