The man never ceases to amaze us with his creativity and generosity. A coffee table book? Not just any book, mind you, but one that encapsulates the life, career, and iconic moments of one of the greatest artists of our time.
Jay-Z is celebrating his birthday with a gift to his fans: He’s releasing a new coffee table book.
On his 55th birthday, it was announced that Jay-Z, the renowned rapper and businessman, will publish “The Book of HOV: A Tribute to JAY-Z” in collaboration with Roc Nation and Assouline on Wednesday.
This 432-page book spotlights the remarkable career of the Grammy and Emmy award-winning celebrity, who was recently celebrated with an exhibit called “The Book of HOV: A Tribute“. This exhibit occurred at the Brooklyn Public Library last year, and it was structured in chapters, featuring a variety of photos of Jay-Z – from portraits to concert shots, magazine covers, and album art.
The upcoming book will come in three distinct versions, priced between $120 and $2,000. It boasts original recording masters, stage attire, interviews, videos, award-winning photographs, the actual guitar Jay-Z used during his historic performance at the Glastonbury Festival in 2008, making him the first hip-hop artist to headline the event, as well as his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame trophy and Daniel Arsham’s sculpture HOV Hands, a signature gesture known from Jay-Z’s concerts.
Some of the profits from selling the exclusive limited edition items will be given to the Brooklyn Public Library. Last year’s event featured Jay-Z’s lyrics adorning the Central Library Building, with exhibits that included the jersey he wore during the opening night of his eight-show run at the Barclays Center in 2012; a collection of awards and accolades such as an Emmy, Grammy, Peabody, and induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame (making Jay-Z the first rapper to be inducted); platinum discs; the ticket for his headlining performance at Carnegie Hall in 2012; a digital tape from his debut single, “In My Lifetime” released in 1995; a Roc-A-Fella gold chain; and a Rocawear bomber jacket.
