Jeff Bezos’ Next Big Washington Post Move: Opinion Pages Pivot to “Personal Liberties, Free Markets”

Following David Shipley’s departure as editor of The Washington Post‘s opinion sections, its owner, Jeff Bezos, has unveiled a significant change in direction for this esteemed newspaper.

In an announcement made on Tuesday, previously known as Twitter, Jeff Bezos shared that we’re making a change regarding our opinion pieces. Starting now, we will pen daily articles advocating for two key principles: individual freedoms and free-market economies.

Lewis, the publisher and CEO of The Washington Post, made a statement obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, expressing gratitude towards Bezos. He stated that Bezos had effectively articulated the core values of The Washington Post, which are: our commitment to free market principles and personal freedoms. I am excited for The Post to be recognized for these two fundamental aspects.

Lewis confirmed that Shipley is set to depart from The Washington Post on Friday, having served as the opinion pages editor for a period of two years.

Lewis requested everyone to join him in expressing gratitude for his contributions to our publication and to our readers, and also in wishing him success in his upcoming ventures. He mentioned that temporary measures are being taken and the newcomer who will fill David’s role will be announced later.

More to come.
