During summer evenings on Tuesdays, NBC typically rules primetime with “America’s Got Talent,” but it’s important to note that this isn’t their only successful series airing on Tuesday nights in the 2025 TV schedule. A fresh travel competition show called “Destination X” has been added to their lineup. This program puts contestants aboard a bus with tinted windows, taking them across Europe where they must unravel clues and overcome physical challenges to guess their exact location, all in pursuit of an impressive grand prize. Known for his role in “The Walking Dead” franchise, Jeffrey Dean Morgan serves as the host for this show, a choice that might surprise some viewers, but he himself seems to share those sentiments!
Initially, Morgan gained recognition for his roles as Denny (both before and after his character’s death) in “Grey’s Anatomy” and John Winchester in “Supernatural,” with a somewhat controversial portrayal of parenting. However, these days he is most famously recognized as the villainous Negan from “The Walking Dead.” His latest project has been acting alongside Lauren Cohan in Season 2 of “The Walking Dead: Dead City.” To sum it up, Morgan is primarily known for his work in television series. During an interview on “Late Night with Seth Meyers,” he shared why he believed he wasn’t suited for the role in “Destination X.
It seemed to me that they had made a mistake. In essence, I felt like they dialed the wrong number, much like mistaking Ryan Seacrest for another popular host.
It’s not surprising that Jeffrey Dean Morgan might initially think Ryan Seacrest would be the ideal candidate for a new hosting job, given his extensive experience in hosting roles. Seacrest first rose to prominence as the host of American Idol during its initial run on Fox and has since become a seasoned emcee, currently hosting Wheel of Fortune. While Morgan is an accomplished actor, Seacrest is recognized for his skills as a professional host.
Initially, I declined a few times but they persisted, insisting that I possessed certain qualities. They seemed to prefer someone with an edge.
As a film enthusiast, it’s no secret that NBC was dead set on having Jeffrey Dean Morgan host Destination X, and they wouldn’t back down from their choice, even in the face of resistance. In his own words, he saw himself as someone who enjoys stirring up trouble, and boy, is he ever living up to that reputation on Destination X! Just like Biggy would say, “dadgum” it, Jeffrey Dean Morgan is knocking it out of the park for the contestants of Destination X!

As per the villain from “The Walking Dead”, he didn’t decide to join “Destination X” merely to create trouble for the players. Instead, he attributes his decision to some sage advice given by his wife (and former cast member of “One Tree Hill”), Hilarie Burton.
However, my wife suggested I try it as I’m not as spry as before, and collisions with zombies are becoming more challenging. She proposed this because she thought it would be beneficial for others to see my unique character, even the mischievous side of me.
In my review, I must confess that while Destination X takes our protagonist on an exhilarating journey across Europe, it’s a far cry from the adrenaline-pumping action of fending off hordes of zombies or disgruntled fans with a menacing baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire – a situation that Negan, unfortunately, found himself in during his infamous encounter with Glenn, played brilliantly by Steven Yeun.
Every Tuesday at 10 p.m. Eastern Time (ET), fresh installments of the show “Destination X” are broadcast on NBC. Following “America’s Got Talent,” these episodes air. If you haven’t been watching yet, it won’t take long to get up-to-date since only five episodes have aired so far.
