Jenna Fischer Reveals Why ‘The Office’ Last Seasons Are Better Than You Think!

Actress Jenna Fischer, known for her role as Pam Beesly in the popular American sitcom The Office on NBC, has expressed support for the later seasons of the show, which have been a subject of criticism. After Steve Carell’s character, Michael Scott, retired from Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch in Season 7, some viewers felt the show lost its direction, but it continued for two more seasons with what Fischer now calls “remarkable plotlines.

On a podcast called “Fly on the Wall”, hosted by Dana Carvey and David Spade, Fischer made an appearance. She reminisced about her podcast with co-star Angela Kinsey, titled “Office Ladies“, where they revisited all 201 episodes of the show. Fischer expressed that her main insight from this rewatch was that it’s consistently excellent throughout. Regarding her favorite episode, she chose “Dinner Party”, and the Season 5 storyline in which Michael and Pam founded their competing paper company, the Michael Scott Paper Company.

Additionally, Fischer took this chance to stand up for the final seasons of the series following Carell’s departure. She acknowledged that there were those who felt the quality dipped after the nominations ceased, but the actress asserted that her most cherished scenes in the show belonged to the last two seasons.

It seems there was a common perception among the cast and crew that the series reached its zenith in Seasons 3 or 4, and that subsequent seasons, particularly those following Steve’s departure, lacked the same quality. However, upon rewatching the entire series, I found some of my favorite episodes were from Seasons 8 and 9, even after Steve had left. The storylines remained captivating.

Reflecting on my cinematic journey now, it’s clear that some of the episodes I cherish most hail from seasons four to six. Truly, those were golden years of television. However, it seems that the nominations for awards ceased after season three. Perhaps this led us to believe unconsciously that we weren’t delivering as brilliantly anymore.

‘The Office’ Universe Returns With Peacock’s ‘The Paper’

In September, the highly anticipated spin-off revival of the “The Office” universe will debut on Peacock. Known as “The Paper“, this new show is being helmed by Michael Koman, a writer from “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”, and Greg Daniels, the original creator of the American version of “The Office”. The star-studded cast includes Domhnall Gleeson, Melvin Gregg, Alex Edelman, Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, among others. As for returning characters, only Oscar Nuñez, who played Oscar Martinez in “The Office”, has been confirmed so far. The series will maintain the mockumentary style similar to “The Office”, as per the official synopsis.

The filmmaking team renowned for capturing the essence of Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton office are on the lookout for a fresh topic. During their hunt, they stumble upon an old, influential Midwest newspaper and its publisher who is attempting to breathe new life into it.
