Jenna Ortega and Sabrina Carpenter Battle in Bloody Music Video for 'Taste'

As a cinephile who has witnessed the evolution of Hollywood since the days of Betamax tapes and Blockbuster video stores, I must say that Jenna Ortega is truly carving out an impressive niche for herself in the industry. Her versatility and dedication to her craft are evident in her latest endeavor, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, where she takes on the role of Astrid Deetz opposite the legendary Michael Keaton.

In a month, Jenna Ortega will tackle the role of Betelgeuse in Tim Burton’s upcoming sequel to his 1988 horror-comedy classic. Prior to that, she is engaged in a conflict with Sabrina Carpenter in the new music video for Carpenter’s latest single “Taste,” which was released today together with her album, “Short n’ Sweet“. Ortega will appear as Astrid Deetz in the movie adaptation of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, scheduled to release on September 6. Meanwhile, Carpenter’s latest feature film appearance was in the 2022 thriller, “Emergency“.

Jenna Ortega Is Set to Shine in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice

Despite being deeply involved in filming Season 2 of “Wednesday” for Netflix in 2025, Jenna Ortega, who’s been quite busy lately, is eagerly anticipating her role in “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” Tim Burton’s sequel takes off 36 years after the original film, with the Deetz family returning to Winter River to grieve a loved one’s passing. Unlike Winona Ryder who played the melancholic teenager in 1988, Jenna Ortega, age 21, will portray her daughter, Astrid. As expected, a chain of events leads to the return of Michael Keaton’s character, Beetlejuice, causing chaos to ensue.

In the role of Astrid, Ortega appears to have found a character perfectly suited for her, following her impressive debut in Season 1 of Wednesday. Her performance received praise from both viewers and critics alike, and even inspired a wave of cosplayers to reimagine Wednesday as the daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams in a fresh way. It’s clear that this part provided valuable preparation for Ortega, as Keaton, who is back as Betelgeuse after an extended absence, notes that she was able to jump right into Astrid’s mindset without any hesitation.

“Wow, she’s incredibly talented! It’s as if she naturally understands the right tone for any situation. Her ability to adapt is remarkable, making it seem effortless, as if she does this every single day. She truly stands out as someone extraordinary.”
