Jenna Ortega Teases Lady Gaga’s Appearance in ‘Wednesday’: “She’s Not Only Incredibly Beautiful But Incredibly Talented”

At SXSW’s screening of the latest movie “Death of a Unicorn” on Saturday, actress Jenna Ortega hinted at the upcoming second installment of the popular show “Wednesday”. This next season is set to welcome pop sensation Lady Gaga into its cast.

The secret role of the popular music star in the second season, set to premiere on Netflix this year, has been tightly guarded. However, Ortega shared with reporters at the Austin, Texas red carpet that working with her was an exceptional experience because “It’s Gaga — just her aura, her visage. She’s not only stunningly beautiful but incredibly gifted, so I believe even if she were to stand in a corner and act as a tree, she would still bring something unique to the scene.

She additionally mentioned that she hasn’t had a chance to hear Lady Gaga’s freshly dropped album called Mayhem, but “I can hardly believe it! I’ve been a devoted fan of hers for ages, so I think I just might give it a listen during my flight journey from here.

Prior to the return of Wednesday Addams’ role, however, Ortega takes center stage in A24’s “Death of a Unicorn,” where she stars alongside Paul Rudd as a father-daughter duo who unintentionally strike a unicorn with their vehicle and transport it to a secluded wilderness retreat owned by a wealthy pharmaceutical executive. Will Poulter, Téa Leoni, and Richard E. Grant are also part of the cast in this venture, which is both written and directed by Alex Scharfman.

Ortega proposed watching the movie by spreading out a carpet, humorously mentioning that the title contains ‘unicorns’, implying it might be uninteresting if declined. She suggested, “Just go for it; what other plans do you have?

Rudd expressed his fascination with the title as well, and he appreciates Scharfman’s ability to create complex characters who are each uniquely flawed in an amusing manner. These characters are sharp-witted, morally ambiguous, and intellectually stimulating; Rudd found himself consistently entertained throughout.

Apart from expressing admiration for Ortega’s abilities, he labeled her as “extremely gifted” and “incredibly cool.” Despite her youthful age, he expressed discomfort with the phrase, “She has an old soul,” often used to describe someone mature beyond their years. He humorously questioned, “Do you believe in angels too?” However, he acknowledged that Ortega does indeed possess characteristics of an old soul.

Death of a Unicorn hits theaters March 28.
