As a fan who has grown alongside Jenna Ortega, it’s fascinating to witness her journey from aspiring actress at 15, vying for Zendaya’s role in Dune, to the accomplished star she is today. Her experiences working with legendary directors like Tim Burton and Denis Villeneuve are a testament to her talent and dedication.
Jenna Ortega believes that she tried out for the part that eventually went to Zendaya in the movie “Dune.” She stated that she was only fifteen years old during her audition for the role, which she played in the film “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.”
According to Ortega’s statement during the BuzzFeed interview, he believes it may have been Chani or Zendaya, but nothing definite was revealed as everything was kept confidential.
Ortega shared that she was genuinely thrilled since Denis Villeneuve is among her most admired filmmakers.
Currently, Ortega is 21 years old, which means she would have been approximately six years old when auditioning for the role in Dune. Alongside Zendaya, the highly praised initial installment of the science fiction series featured Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgard, and Dave Bautista. The sequel, Dune: Part Two, was released earlier this year.
In another part of the interview, Ortega shared insights from working on Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’ under the guidance of iconic director Tim Burton. Interestingly, the same director is helming ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’, a sequel to his 1988 film ‘Beetlejuice’, where Ortega plays Astrid Deetz, the character portrayed by Lydia (Winona Ryder) in the movie.
On Wednesday, they were simply taking the time to learn a bit about each other, according to Ortega, regarding her relationship with Burton. On set of Beetlejuice, he appeared much more lively and playful, which I believe greatly benefited our relationship…it was just an incredibly joyous and happy filming experience.
Jennifer Ortega plays the role of Wednesday Addams in Netflix’s series, “Wednesday,” which debuted its first season in 2022. At present, they are working on producing season 2.
Currently, we’re filming episodes 201 and 204, and there’s a great deal of action taking place in both episodes. These episodes seem particularly significant, according to Ortega. Each day on set, it feels like we’re handling a major scene.
During the interview, Ortega shared some tidbits from her personal life, such as admitting that her first celebrity crush was none other than Barack Obama and expressing amusement over the unfounded gossip suggesting she was in a relationship with Johnny Depp.
As a gamer, I find it mind-blowing that I’ve never addressed this before, never shared my thoughts on the matter. To be honest, I found it downright amusing when I first encountered it.
