Jennifer Aniston has lined up another series at Apple TV+.
Jennifer Aniston, who stars in and produces The Morning Show, will headline a new series based on Jennette McCurdy’s memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died for the streaming platform. McCurdy is collaborating with Ari Katcher (known for his work in Ramy, Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show) to adapt her book, and they will both serve as co-showrunners. Additionally, Aniston will be an executive producer on the project.
In her book, the actress formerly known for her role on “iCarly”, McCurdy, reveals the challenging relationship she had with her abusive mother and her journey towards healing following her mother’s passing in 2013. The memoir, titled “I’m Glad My Mom Died“, quickly climbed the bestseller list when it was released in 2022.
After the release of the book, McCurdy shared with The Hollywood Reporter how deeply moved she was by the story’s emotional impact on readers, as it resonates strongly with her personal relationship with her mother. This complex and significant bond is a crucial aspect to delve into, and witnessing this connection being made among people has been truly astounding. Moreover, the humor in the narrative, as well as its exploration of eating disorders and intricate grief, has been nothing short of remarkable.
The series is referred to as a blend of drama and comedy, focusing on the complex bond between an 18-year-old actress popular in children’s shows and her self-centered mother who enjoys her role as a starlet’s mom. In this production, Aniston will portray the mother character.
Jennifer Aniston will soon be appearing in the fourth season of “The Morning Show” on Apple TV+. This series is slated to come back on September 17th, featuring a leap of two years ahead from where season three ended in 2023.
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve learned Apple Studios is developing the series based on “I’m Glad My Mom Died.” As a fan, it’s exciting to know that the talented duo, McCurdy and Katcher, are co-showrunning and will also executive produce. Alongside them are Jennifer Aniston through her Echo Films, Sharon Horgan and Stacy Greenberg from Merman Productions, Dani Gorin, Tom Ackerley, and Josey McNamara from LuckyChap, as well as Jerrod Carmichael and Erica Kay. The team behind this project is truly impressive!
