Jeremy Renner to Release Memoir Recounting His Near-Fatal Snowplow Accident

In his upcoming book titled “My Next Breath,” Jeremy Renner plans to share details of the close call he had with a snowplow accident.

The autobiography of the actor from “Kingstown’s Mayor” will provide a candid account of the incident and its consequences, as well as sharing insights into his prolonged healing journey and how this experience has shaped his life, as stated by publisher Macmillan.

MacMillan contends that this re-telling isn’t just a graphic depiction of events that occurred, but rather it serves as a call to action, fostering a unique bond between reader and writer as Jeremy shares his healing process and ponders the influence of his hardships.

On New Year’s Day 2023, while shoveling snow at his house near Mt. Rose Highway in Nevada, Renner sustained severe injuries while attempting to save his nephew. The incident happened when a problem occurred with the parking brake of the 14,300-pound snowcat, causing it to move and drag him underneath the snowplow. Initially declared dead at the scene, he was then transported by air ambulance to a hospital in the Reno area. There, he underwent surgery for chest trauma due to blunt force and orthopedic injuries.

Come April 29th, I’ll be diving into “My Next Breath,” a memoir penned by Renner that promises to delve deep into his heartwrenching journey of transformation. This book stands as an ode to the indomitable human spirit, showcasing our ability to persevere, adapt, and discover purpose amidst unfathomable hardships.

In a very open manner, Renner has been forthcoming about his healing journey and posted updates about his health on Instagram. He disclosed that his chest was reconstructed with metal, and he underwent metal facial implants and titanium rods in one of his legs as a result of his injuries. Moreover, during an interview on the Smartless podcast 18 months post-accident, Renner openly admitted that he was petrified about accepting new acting roles.

He expressed that he’s currently lacking the vitality for it. In other words, he doesn’t possess the necessary resources or power. What he has is an abundance of energy to invest in this reality, his body, and various aspects of life. At present, he can’t engage in pretend play because it requires a significant amount of daily effort just to maintain a positive mindset, advance, and continue growing.

More recently, Renner took to Instagram to express his gratitude, two years after the incident, to the medical team who worked tirelessly to save his life and assist him in recovering.

In heartfelt appreciation, I extend my love, admiration, and deepest gratitude to the tireless team who mended me,” I penned. “A huge thank you to every nurse, physician, paramedic – without your selfless efforts, I wouldn’t be here today.
