David Beckham’s upcoming Valentine’s Day underwear campaign, which has generated a lot of excitement among fans, including his wife Victoria Beckham, has caught the attention of Jesse Tyler Ferguson from Modern Family. The actor humorously compared Beckham’s new wardrobe in the campaign to Beckham’s role in one of ABC’s popular sitcoms. (It seems he may have a point.)
As the face of the Boss One underwear campaign, the former soccer star has been sharing a lot about the line with his Instagram followers. Between the images and reels he’s dropped, the reveals have been relatively straightforward. His fans have a lot to say, though, and I’m not surprised Ferguson was amongst the commenters. The actor’s aforementioned comparison was not only hilarious but (figuratively and literally) fitting:
This is basically what you wore on your episode of Modern Family.
Jesse Tyler Ferguson accurately points out that Beckham’s wardrobe on the iconic comedy series and his current role as Boss One have some striking similarities. Although Beckham didn’t spend the entire series in his underwear, he did sport them towards the latter part of the storyline. You can observe this resemblance by checking out his performance as Boss One.

Although the post effectively highlights the underwear brand, I find myself reminiscing about an episode of “Modern Family.” In that specific episode, the 11th season’s 10th episode titled “The Prescott,” focuses on Alex Dunphy’s (Ariel Winter) swanky apartment, which she obtained through her job. Despite the rules prohibiting guests when the resident isn’t present and with Alex being occupied with a project, her family still manages to sneak in for their own reasons.
Apart from Hayley Dunphy (Sarah Hyland), Lily Pritchett (Aubrey Anderson-Emmons) and Joe Pritchett (Jeremy Maguire), all other family members find themselves involved in various mischiefs. Mitch and Cam (Eric Stonestreet), separately, are aiming to cross paths with the renowned Beckhams – Victoria and David Beckham. Eventually, they manage to encounter half of this A-list duo during a shared hot tub experience.
It’s interesting to note that another well-known comedian might have taken the role of Claire Dunphy in Modern Family. This would have resulted in a significantly different show.
I find this “Modern Family” episode to be one of its classic installments, despite being close to the end of its series. Remarkably, Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s comparison is amusing, but what stands out more is how the British athlete isn’t shy about stripping down for a show or advertising campaign.
It’s uncertain if David Beckham will appear in another sitcom soon, but I’d certainly enjoy seeing him as a guest star. For now, I’m appreciating Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s amusing comparison regarding the Boss One campaign. If only Beckham would respond with a playful comment to make it even more enjoyable!
People who want to watch David Beckham’s episode on Modern Family can easily do so by having an active Hulu membership or a Peacock membership.
