Jigra: ‘Alia Bhatt is MAGIC on screen’ reveals Somen Mishra; breaks silence on controversy with Vasan Bala; ‘We were dying to...'

As a long-time follower of Bollywood, I can confidently say that the ongoing speculation surrounding Alia Bhatt and Jigra has been nothing short of amusing. Having witnessed the industry dynamics for years, it’s clear that statements can often be misconstrued or taken out of context, as was the case here.

In a straightforward manner: Alia Bhatt is currently dominating the film industry with her consecutive hits, and every action or movie she stars in generates significant attention. However, a minor controversy erupted when some online users suggested that director Vasan Bala might not have initially preferred Alia for his upcoming film “Jigra.” The film’s producer, Somen Mishra, has since clarified that they were very keen to cast Alia as the main character, Satya, and the speculation is unfounded.

Somen Mishra commented on a post suggesting that perhaps the director of Jigra didn’t plan to have Alia Bhatt as the main character. However, it was later revealed that Karan Johar, one of the movie’s producers, had sent an early version of the script to Alia without informing Somen. Initially, when discussing the film with Vasan Bala and Karan Johar, they were all interested in having Alia Bhatt as the lead actress, a preference shared by all involved in the project.

He shared, “When Vasan, me and KJ were discussing the initial story, we were DYING to get Alia on board. Matlab, I don’t know one filmmaker who won’t. She is absolutely the best. And we were lucky she said yes. Vasan meant it was rough pitch then.”

Everything kicked off when Vasan Bala had a chat with Tried & Refused Productions. He confided that he’d recently emailed a draft to Karan and forwarded it to Alia without giving him a heads-up first. He expressed his dissatisfaction, admitting, “I wished I could have run a spellcheck, grammar check, and written an engaging introduction. I inquired, ‘Why did you go ahead with this?’ Karan replied, ‘Don’t worry about it, this is the usual way.’

The part of that statement spread rapidly online, and people connected it to nepotism, leading them to critique both Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt. Later on, Somen elaborated on the way film roles are offered and the entire selection process.

Beyond resolving the dispute, he joyfully shared his delight over Alia Bhatt joining the project and stated, “Once you watch the movie, it will become clear. We were desperately eager to have her involved. She is captivating on screen. If she had declined, I’m not sure who else could have portrayed Satya. The rest is insignificant.

In the end, the producer of Jigra jokingly commented about the incident, clarifying that the film’s director, Vasan Bala, was unaware of it. In truth, he has been focusing on wrapping up the production of the movie, and they all chuckle at the absurd comments made about it.

The upcoming movie titled “Jigra,” featuring Alia Bhatt and Vedang Raina, will hit the big screens starting October 11. This film explores the heartwarming relationship between siblings, and audiences are eagerly anticipating its premiere due to the intriguing trailer and catchy tunes that have already been released.
