Jigra: Vedang Raina reveals his mental health was impacted while shooting film co-starring Alia Bhatt; ‘I shut myself in my vanity…’

As a dedicated follower and admirer of Vedang Raina, witnessing his journey from The Archies to Jigra has been a captivating ride. His commitment to his craft is undeniable, as seen in the challenges he faced during the filming of Jigra.

In 2023, Vedang Raina, who made his debut in The Archies, is preparing for the launch of his upcoming movie titled Jigra. In this film, he takes on the character of Ankur Anand, a man who finds himself behind bars in a foreign jail. Alia Bhatt, portraying his sister in the movie, will leave no stone unturned to rescue him. Lately, Vedang has disclosed that the filming process had a significant effect on his mental well-being. He shared an incident where he isolated himself in his dressing room on the first day of shooting and requested privacy from others.

In a chat with Mansworld India, Vedang Raina disclosed that playing Jigra presented a difficulty for him in terms of slipping into and out of his character. He mentioned that Alia Bhatt, his co-star, would nail a scene flawlessly before instantly exiting the role following the announcement “cut”. However, Vedang shared that he found it tough to mimic this swift transition himself.

In his own words, Vedang shared, “The experience affected my mental well-being somewhat.” Looking back on that day when he filmed a highly emotional scene for the first time, he explained, “That very first day, I was required to shoot an intensely emotional scene. To prepare myself, I retreated to my vanity room, turned off the lights, silenced my phone, and asked everyone to give me space. There, I sat alone, listening to music.

Vedang also mentioned that the filming was delayed, and as a result, he found himself in a situation of voluntary isolation for approximately 8 hours. He confided that this experience had an impact on him, and he struggled to break free from that state for several hours following the shoot.

The Archie’s actor admitted that what they had been attempting wouldn’t succeed in that manner. He expressed his belief that it wasn’t beneficial and felt there existed more effective strategies to evoke such emotions.

The movie titled “Jigra,” helmed by Vasan Bala, is set to grace the cinemas on October 11, 2024.
