Jimmy Kimmel went AWOL during the Woke Wars.
During those challenging times, an “alum of The Man Show” had a nightly stage at his disposal. This gave him the opportunity to express his views on current events whenever he deemed appropriate, through the platform “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”.
Instead, Kimmel used his perch to chase Republicans far, far away.
“Not good riddance, but riddance,” as he famously said about right-leaning viewers.

It wasn’t just about politics.
He was sitting with an excellent view while other comedians faced punishment for making inappropriate jokes, writers faced cancellation due to unsuitable backgrounds, and books were removed from public knowledge.
He possessed a strong influence in culture, valuable contacts within the industry, and a favorable reputation throughout Hollywood. Yet, despite this, he remained idle when it came to advocating for comedy and freedom of expression.
He wasn’t alone, of course. His silence still mattered.
Currently, Kimmel expresses in Rolling Stone, a magazine with liberal leanings, that his fellow progressive peers are responsible for the ‘woke’ criticisms leveled against comedy. He claims these criticisms were not sincere or intended by them.
In simpler terms, “Jimmy Kimmel believes that much of the anger expressed by the Left, particularly those criticizing comedians, is fabricated. He suggests that these individuals who appear to be angry may not truly feel this way. Furthermore, he implies that some liberal critics, who have been relentless in their attacks on comedians, played a significant role in Trump becoming president.
Later, he defends comedians against Cancel Culture.
Comedy isn’t always clear-cut with definite boundaries; each individual has their own unique line. What Dave Chappelle might find acceptable, another person may not. I firmly believe no one should be ostracized or silenced. To be honest, I don’t support such actions. I’m not the type who would end a relationship based on disagreements in belief.
We could have used his voice … five years ago. So why is he speaking up now?
Two reasons.
It’s clear that some Americans feel overwhelmed by the Left’s dominance in cultural matters and view Trump as a solution. In response to these sentiments, the President swiftly took action, challenging diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.
Kimmel, with his overtly biased personality, tends to prioritize issues that align with his perspective. Recall how he downplayed or overlooked any signs of cognitive decline in President Joe Biden during the 2024 election period?
Two? He sees the writing on the pop culture wall.
In recent months, there’s been a remarkable resurgence of comedy roasts. Unconventional comedians, quite different from Kimmel, are now leading the pack in comedy clubs, streaming services, and YouTube. This suggests that the influence of the more controversial or progressive style of humor might be on the decline.
Tim Dillon just dropped his second Netflix special on the streaming giant.
1) Disney has taken off certain safety notices on its popular streaming service, leading to a resurgence of controversial figures like Johnny Depp in prominent roles.
The controversial anti-woke documentary titled “Am I Racist?” didn’t just have a broad theatrical debut, it outperformed its competitors.
Kimmel isn’t stupid.
He wants to appear as if he was on the side of free speech all along. He wasn’t.
Looking back, it’s likely that he will be viewed as a “well-meaning but misguided individual” in the years to come.
