As a long-time viewer and admirer of Jimmy Kimmel, I can confidently say that his latest monologue on Wednesday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! was nothing short of brilliant. With his signature wit and keen insight, he masterfully navigated the complexities of our current political climate, all while maintaining a level of humor that only he can deliver.
Jimmy Kimmel commenced the newest installment of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” by addressing a specific note to moderate Republicans.
Before the event, the host shared on social platforms, encouraging everyone to ask their beloved Republican friends to tune in on Wednesday evening, since he has prepared a unique monologue specifically for them.
It seems to me that you’re tuning in because you have concern for the person who requested you to watch, or perhaps because you’re open-minded and willing to listen to someone with differing views. Regardless of your reasons, I appreciate you granting me 15 minutes of your time today to discuss Donald Trump. Perhaps you admire him and will continue to support him regardless of his actions or words. Maybe you dislike the opposition so intensely that you overlook what he says and does. Or maybe there’s a small doubt in your mind, wondering if he’s the right person to be at the wheel.
As a dedicated follower, I’m urging you to listen not just to my words, but his. You, like many Americans, are likely busy juggling various responsibilities and may not have the time to keep up with his rallies, speeches, and interviews. However, unlike most, I have the luxury of dedicating all my time to this pursuit. Over the past nine years, I’ve made it a point to watch every interview, every speech, every bold social media post from this man.
During the nearly 20-minute segment on Wednesday’s show, Kimmel chose to concentrate solely on the actual words spoken by Trump. He presented numerous video clips of Trump discussing various topics such as his healthcare plan, childcare, windmills, and matters that were unfounded or fictitious.
Isn’t it expected that you should be campaigning for presidency, given the serious matters at hand? Jimmy Kimmel inquired at one instance. “Here’s the irony,” he continued, “his frivolous and unrelated outbursts can be amusing if he was hosting a podcast or peddling knives at a market. However, as our leader, it is concerning. His words are influencing people, and the nation seems to be becoming increasingly chaotic because his behavior makes it acceptable to act irrationally.
Afterward, the host made it clear that most presidents don’t peddle goods. But there’s one who’s an exception to this rule – he sells them in large quantities. Following this, Kimmel displayed a series of videos showcasing Trump’s advertisements for various products he offers, such as Trump coins, a coffee table book, trading cards, and a “God Bless the USA” bible, along with some other items.
Following the revelation that numerous Republicans and ex-members of the Trump administration have declared they won’t endorse him in the upcoming election, Kimmel concluded his monologue with a pertinent message.
He either doesn’t value truthfulness or struggles to comprehend it, both being poor choices,” he stated. “On Tuesday, we have an election, and Trump has been quite explicit: if he wins, it will be a fair one; but if he loses, it will be manipulated.
Kimmel went on to say, “He doesn’t seem to have any intentions of reducing grocery prices or ensuring our safety, let alone securing the border. Instead, what he appears to be planning is to file lawsuits, engage in legal disputes, settle old scores, and retaliate against his adversaries. Essentially, he wants to transform things into ‘All about me, by me, for me.’
“Listen, politics in a lot of ways is like sports. You probably just root for the team your dad roots for. Maybe you’ve been a Republican your whole life. That’s your team and it feels wrong not to vote for them. But this time around, you wouldn’t be alone. You have a lot of company,” he added. “Most elections are about policy. This one is not. This is about sanity and security and democracy.”
