JJJJound and ASICS Tease Long-Awaited Return With GT-2160

As a seasoned gamer and sneaker enthusiast with over two decades of collecting under my belt, the upcoming JJJJound x ASICS collaboration has me buzzing like never before! Having grown up admiring the sleek design aesthetics of both brands, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia mixed with excitement for this latest release.

On a Monday morning this week, JJJJound unveiled its upcoming collaboration with ASICS, marking nearly three years since their initial partnership that launched their interpretation of the GEL-Kayano 14s in 2022. In an Instagram post titled “JJJJ ASICS FW24,” they showcased two fresh designs for the GT-2160 model, presented in sleek chrome and contrasting black-and-white color schemes.

Reflecting Montreal’s studio’s subtle design philosophy during iterations, the standout elements are delicately revealed in the intricate details. Carbon fiber strips subtly enhance the shoe from heel to toe caps with high-end touches, while expansive mesh uppers give the shoes a richer, more tactile feel.

The predominantly white version features a titanium hue on the upper material, adorned with silver and black accents across the overlays. Notable highlights include neon lettering on the tongue cushion and heel. In contrast, the other model is entirely black, but boasts silver accents along the overlays, text, and laces to enhance its design.

Compared to the earlier released GEL-Kayano 14, which featured a retro design with thicker details and off-white soles, the JJJJound x ASICS GT-2160 model exudes a more modern vibe. The sleekness of the GT-2260 is accentuated by vertical lines sculpted into its midsoles. Lately, ASICS has given this model a boost with collaborations involving brands such as Above the Clouds, Carnival, and Kiko Kostadinov.

The brands haven’t fully disclosed the price and launch date of the JJJJound GT-2160 sneakers, but the “FW24” tag suggests they might be coming out this season. Keep an eye out for further release details from TopMob.
