Joanthan Anderson Exits Loewe & Nike’s Falling Revenue Stirs Trouble in This Week’s Top Fashion News

This week’s leading fashion updates confirm a much-discussed exit, innovative partnerships materialize unexpectedly, and ambiguous company reports have investors raising questions.

Initially, let me clarify one of the most talked-about and unfortunate departures is happening at Loewe, as Jonathan Anderson confirms he’s leaving after 11 years. Nike, on the other hand, is grappling with a different kind of sad news, anticipating its largest revenue decline in five years. In France, LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault proposes extending his age limit to 85 for his role, while Jacquemus and Air France reveal an exclusive collaboration. Meanwhile, in Japan, Fast Retailing (UNIQLO’s parent company) is expanding its partnership with London’s Tate Modern, and Kith, a retailer based in New York, has opened its second Japanese location in Osaka.

Here’s my take on staying stylishly informed in the ever-evolving world of fashion: Each week, I gather the hottest trends sweeping through the industry for you, ensuring you never miss a beat when it comes to what’s trending!

Loewe Confirms Jonathan Anderson Is Stepping Down as Creative Director

For several months, talks about Jonathan Anderson leaving Loewe have been circulating, and now it appears to be true. In a subtle farewell, Loewe decided against participating in the Paris Fashion Week runway schedule, instead organizing a carefully selected exhibition showcasing some of Anderson’s famous designs like the Puzzle bag. Coincidentally, around this time, Anderson shared a video montage reflecting on his 12-year journey with Loewe, fueling rumors about his upcoming departure. It wasn’t until March 17 that the brand finally confirmed the news officially.

There are rumors that designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez from Proenza Schouler could become the new creative leads at Loewe, following their departure from their New York-based label. At this point in time, though, no official successor to Anderson has been announced by Loewe yet. The upcoming appointee will face a challenging task, as Anderson is widely recognized for revitalizing the renowned Spanish fashion house, with his modern influence and appreciation for surrealism playing significant roles in elevating the brand.

Nike Expected to Post Worst Revenue Drop Since 2020 Pandemic

Based on a report by Business of Fashion (BoF), Nike is projected to experience its steepest revenue decline since the pandemic-induced industry turmoil in 2020. This anticipated drop is attributed to decreased foot traffic, fewer app downloads, and inventory issues that are adversely affecting the brand’s overall performance. BoF refers to data from LSEG, stating that Nike could report a 11.5% revenue decrease, which would be its sharpest decline since the 38% drop in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2020. Key indicators suggesting Nike’s struggling performance include a 11% decrease in foot traffic at Nike stores (Raymond James) and a 35% reduction in Nike app downloads (Sensor Tower).

After the pandemic, Nike has been working hard to regain stability, leading to a management reshuffle intended to revitalize the brand. The appointment of longtime Nike executive Elliot Hill as CEO at the end of last year has brought renewed hope following the departure of former CEO John Donahue. With Hill’s plans in motion, such as the unveiling of the NikeSKIMS line, a collaboration with Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand for women-focused activewear solutions, and upcoming sneaker releases like the Pegasus 41, Pegasus Plus, Vomero 18 in early 2025, we will soon see if Nike’s fresh strategies will positively impact their financial performance.

Bernard Arnault Wants To Run LVMH Until He Is 85

Bernard Arnault, LVMH’s CEO, has put forward a new proposal to elevate the maximum age for his company’s CEO position. Currently at 76 and ranked among the top five wealthiest individuals globally, Arnault intends to continue leading the company until he turns 85. Last year, shareholders approved an initial resolution that raised the age limit from 75 to 80 years old.

More recently, siblings Alexandre and Frédéric Arnault have been appointed to the board of directors, joining their siblings Antoine (Head of communication, image, and environment at LVMH) and Delphine (chairman and CEO of Christian Dior Couture). Alex has been elevated to the role of deputy CEO for Moët Hennessy, LVMH’s wines and spirits division, while Frédéric assumes the position of CEO at Loro Piana. Meanwhile, the youngest sibling, Jean, holds the director position for watches at Louis Vuitton. The question of whether Bernard Arnault will continue as the leader of LVMH until he turns 85 will be addressed at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) coming up next month.

An embroidered Air France equestrian symbol can be found on the breast of each piece, while inside the neck, you’ll find dual Jacquemus and Air France tags.

The collaborators have created four distinct sizes and two unique necklines, enabling travelers to select their preferred comfortable fit. These pajamas complement the upcoming overhaul of the La Première cabin atmosphere in a fleet of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, boasting four suites spanning 3.5 square meters each.
