Joaquin Phoenix's Joker 2 Co-Star Talks Popularity On Sets Amid Brouhaha Over His Other Movie Exit

As a long-time fan of Joaquin Phoenix, I must say his career journey has been nothing short of extraordinary. From his humble beginnings to his current status as an Oscar-winning actor, he has proven time and again that he is a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood.

Joaquin Phoenix, a highly acclaimed actor with an Oscar to his name, has enjoyed a thriving career in the glitzy world of Hollywood for many years. Despite numerous directors eager to collaborate with him, the 49-year-old star has faced criticism for abruptly withdrawing from Todd Haynes’ upcoming queer romance film. However, Phoenix’s co-star on “Joker 2” spoke about his popularity on set amid the buzz surrounding his exit from another production. To clarify all these points…

It appears that Phoenix’s decision not to discuss his withdrawal from Haynes’ movie has apparently put the production of “Joker: Folie à Deux” on hold before filming even started. However, we do have some information about the movie. Actor Harry Lawtey recently shared insights with I-D Magazine regarding his experience working on the upcoming DC film. He discussed his initial collaboration with Joaquin Phoenix, mentioning:

Upon arriving in LA, filming was already underway. I hung around the production base, yet I didn’t catch a glimpse of Joaquin as he was fully occupied. Later, on my first day, the very moment I laid eyes on him was during my initial take when he entered the room. It was a close-up shot focusing on me watching him walk through the door. Let me assure you, I had never seen him before that instance. The first time I saw him, there was a camera directly in front of my face, and all I could think was: ‘There he is!’

Given that Phoenix portrays the lead role in Joker 2, it’s not surprising that he was exceptionally busy on set. For this sequel, he has a criminal partner due to Lady Gaga’s character, Harley Quinn. Nonetheless, the expectation might have been immense after the unprecedented success of the initial movie (now available with a Max subscription).

Initially, Lawtey encountered Joaquin Phoenix during the filming of “Folie à Deux”: the sequel to “Joker”. However, they managed to establish a connection throughout the entire production process. In the same interview, the actor from Hollywood’s inner circle discussed Phoenix’s dedication and acclaim in the movie industry. He commented:

Joaquin strongly feels that everyone deserves to carry out their tasks while being safeguarded, respected, and valued. It’s one of the reasons he is so well-liked – it’s evident that he values the efforts of others immensely. This is what an ideal film set should embody. He showed me not only respect but also genuine interest in my work, even going as far as to ask about my work processes!

As a die-hard fan, I must say that the comments surrounding Phoenix are quite striking, considering the backlash he faced following his exit from Todd Haynes’ film just before shooting was about to commence. It’s going to be thrilling to witness how public opinion of him evolves once Joker 2 graces our screens in October. The anticipation is high, as the movie carries a significant burden to replicate the same Oscar-winning magic as its predecessor.

The secrets will be unveiled when “Joker: Folie à Deux” premieres on October 4th. In the meantime, make sure to mark your calendars for the movie release dates in the year 2025 to schedule your cinema outings in the New Year.
