Joe Locke Talks Young Avengers, The Character He Thinks Billy Would Get Along Well With, And Choosing Between Future Marvel Movies Or TV Shows

As a long-time Marvel fan with countless hours spent pouring over comic books and watching each new film release, I can confidently say that the future of the MCU is looking very promising – especially when it comes to the Young Avengers! The recent recruitment scene between Kamala Khan and Kate Bishop in ‘The Marvels’ was a clear indication that something big is brewing for this dynamic group of heroes.

In the past, Marvel Studios has been known to hint at future storylines in their mid-credits scenes, some of which turn into significant plot developments, while others don’t pan out. However, given the emphasis Marvel Studios has placed on developing and introducing the Young Avengers, it seems likely that a film or Disney+ series centered around this group is in the works. For instance, the end of the latest team-up movie, “The Marvels,” features Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan recruiting Kate Bishop (played by Hailee Steinfeld), much like Nick Fury, for a mission. Furthermore, the recent appearances of Hulk’s son Skaar, America Chavez, and Eli Bradley suggest that the team is being formed.

After the sixth episode of “Agatha All Along,” it’s clear that Joe Locke portrays Billy Maximoff, Wanda’s son and the strong character Wiccan. Given that Billy was also a part of the Young Avengers in the comics, I asked Locke about his preferred MCU character to work with if the Young Avengers were to appear in some form. To get him started, I asked him which character he would be most thrilled to collaborate with among Kate Bishop/Hawkeye, Eli Bradley/Patriot, America Chavez, and others. In this lineup, Locke shared with TopMob his top pick.

I’m crossing my fingers for more opportunities in the Marvel universe. I’m not privy to any inside information, but I believe Ms. Marvel and Billy would make a great team. I find Ms. Marvel to be an incredibly fascinating character.

Since Ms. Marvel is being positioned as the Nick Fury equivalent in the Young Avengers, it’s likely that Billy Maximoff, should he join the team of young heroes, will have numerous encounters with Kamala Khan. Here’s an entertaining clip showing Kamala recruiting Kate; it offers a glimpse into what we can expect in the future.

As I’m diving headfirst into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with my new multi-episode series role, I couldn’t help but wonder aloud about the upcoming Young Avengers project. So, I asked Joe Locke directly if he’d rather see it as a movie or a show. To my curiosity, he responded honestly: “Either way, I’m just excited to be part of this Marvel adventure.

If given an opportunity to reprise my role as Billy, I wouldn’t be picky about how it’s presented. Shooting for that role was amazing, and I genuinely enjoy portraying the character, so I’d embrace any format for the chance to do it again.

Currently, there are two exciting Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) projects involving the Avengers in development, boasting groundbreaking ideas. Robert Downey Jr., who is rejoining the MCU, won’t be reprising his Tony Stark role but will instead introduce Victor Von Doom, setting the stage for what we anticipate to be a colossal team-up film tentatively titled “Avengers: Secret Wars.” However, it remains unclear whether the Young Avengers will be involved in these projects or if their introduction will be delayed until later. As for Marvel Studios’ plans, they seem to be focusing on developing the characters like Wiccan, Kate Bishop, Ms. Marvel, Hulking, Patriot, and others, but there are no immediate plans to bring them together in a movie similar to next summer’s “Thunderbolts.

We’ll check if Tommy, Billy Maximoff’s twin brother, joins the storyline before Agatha All Along ends on Disney+. Additionally, we’ll keep an eye out for any further updates regarding a potential Young Avengers project as Kevin Feige unveils more secrets about the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
