Joel McHale Boards ‘Yellowjackets’ for Season 3

As a seasoned gamer of both virtual worlds and real-life dramas, I must say that the addition of Joel McHale to Yellowjackets’ third season is nothing short of exhilarating! With his knack for comedy and impeccable acting chops, I can only imagine the twist he’ll bring to this already gripping survival tale.

Yellowjackets is adding to its season three cast.

The popular series “Paramount+ With Showtime Drama” has cast Joel McHale to appear as a guest star in its upcoming third season, which is currently being filmed and aims to debut sometime in 2025. At this point, specifics about McHale’s character are being kept under wraps.

The second season of Yellowjackets concluded with a jaw-dropping twist, both in its contemporary narrative and within the 1996 wilderness storyline. Teenage members of a soccer team are pushed to their limits as they strive for survival following a devastating plane crash. (Spoilers can be found at these links: [first link] and [second link])

The production crew behind the show has been rather secretive about what’s in store for season three, but lead actress Christina Ricci hinted to The Hollywood Reporter in June that the upcoming episodes will be more shocking and surprising than the previous seasons. She described it as “brutal,” yet with a good dose of humor. So, it’s safe to say that season three is going to be very much in line with the show’s unique style, Yellowjackets-esque.

Currently, McHale is the lead actor in Fox’s comedy series titled “Animal Control” and the host of their cooking competition show called “Crime Scene Kitchen”. Previously, he has had recurring roles on The Bear and will return to his character of Jeff Winger in Peacock’s upcoming movie version of “Community”. McHale is represented by United Talent Agency (UTA) and Ziffren Brittenham.

Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson, and Jonathan Lisco co-developed the show Yellowjackets and serve as its head writers. Drew Comins of Creative Engine, Jeff Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Rozsa, and Brad Van Arragon also executive produce, while Lionsgate Television is responsible for producing the series.
