Joey Fatone Joins ‘& Juliet’ Cast, Marking Singer’s Return to Broadway After Two Decades

As a seasoned gamer of the Broadway scene who has witnessed the rise and fall of many stars, I must admit, I was taken aback by Joey Fatone‘s return to the Great White Way after two decades! It feels like just yesterday I was rocking out to “I Want It That Way” during my high school days.

Joey Fatone is set to be part of the cast for the musical & Juliet, as confirmed by the show’s producers on Tuesday. This marks a return to Broadway for the *NSYNC member, who last appeared there twenty years ago.

In a nine-week run starting January 21, 2025, Fatone is set to portray Lance in the award-nominated musical. This performance marks his return to the stage, having been a founding member of NSYNC and often working with renowned songwriter and show producer Max Martin. He will be stepping into the role previously played by Tony Award-winning actor Paulo Szot (who was also part of the original Broadway cast).

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be part of the cast for & Juliet!, as shared in a recent press release. I can hardly contain my excitement to perform Max Martin’s fantastic tunes – his music has significantly influenced pop music over the years. And yes, you heard it right; there will be a few Backstreet Boys songs thrown into the mix. Despite my unwavering loyalty towards NSYNC, they still have some great hits. I look forward to seeing you at the performance!

In a fresh, contemporary twist on the classic Shakespearean tale “Romeo and Juliet,” Juliet rewrites her own story, exploring what might have transpired if she had been given a second chance at life and love after Romeo. This captivating reimagining is presented through a collection of pop anthems, boasting several tracks from the Backstreet Boys such as “Larger Than Life,” “I Want It That Way,” “Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely” and “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).” Additionally, the production includes the hit single “It’s Gonna Be Me” by NSYNC.

Back in the day, I graced the stage of Broadway in 2004, taking on the role of Seymour in “Little Shop of Horrors.” Before that, I was belting out tunes as Mark in “Rent” in 2002.

Starting from October 27, the cast of & Juliet on Broadway will feature Maya Boyd, Alison Luff, Drew Gehling, Liam Pearce, Michael Iván Carrier and Jeannette Bayardelle. Nathan Levy is set to join the team from November 19. The remaining cast members for the show’s third year on Broadway include Gabe Amato, Daniel Assetta, Reese Britts, Nicholas Cooper, Charli D’Amelio, Jhailyn Paige Farcon, Makai Hernandez, Najah Hetsberger, Joomin Hwang, Khailah Johnson, Elsa Keefe, Alaina Ví Maderal, Daniel J. Maldonado, Alejandro MullerDahlberg, Ava Noble, Cassie Silva, Darien Van Rensalier and Romy Vuksan.
