John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh's Vedaa gets U/A certificate after CBFC removes over 9 minutes of scenes

As an ardent fan of John Abraham’s gripping performances and the suspenseful narratives that Nikkhil Advani weaves, I can’t help but feel a mix of anticipation and amusement as I follow the journey of their upcoming film, Vedaa. The twists and turns this movie seems to be taking in its path towards release are reminiscent of the intricate plots these two masterminds have given us before.

As an ardent fan, I can barely contain my excitement as John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh’s upcoming masterpiece, Vedaa, gears up for its grand release! The latest news has me practically jumping out of my skin – the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has officially given Vedaa a U/A certificate!

As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that, following necessary modifications, my film Vedaa has received a U/A certification from the CBFC on August 6. The filmmakers and I had to trim over 9 minutes of content and revise a 1-minute-16-second disclaimer, adding a voiceover for clarity. Moreover, a dialogue that was perceived as derogatory towards women and social identities needed reworking. We replaced an inappropriate term with ‘bana’, ensuring our film promotes respect and inclusivity.

In simpler terms, the 2-minute, 16-second hanging sequence has been cut out from the movie. Additionally, when referring to the Jodhpur High Court, the filmmakers have been told to omit the word ‘Jodhpur’. Furthermore, the Censor Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has asked for a 30% reduction in the intensity of violent scenes that take place on the court premises.

In one scene, a character listens to an audio track featuring Sanskrit shlokas, which has now been removed by the censor board. The board also required the removal of text that read “Brahmin son…Shudra’s son” and instructed the filmmakers to blur scenes depicting the tearing of currency notes.

Previously, Nikkhil Advani and the team behind the film Vedaa had shared a statement explaining the delay in getting approval from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for their planned release on Independence Day 2024. They stated that despite their best attempts, they were yet to secure clearance and certification from the CBFC of India. Later on, it was disclosed that the revising committee of the CBFC would watch Vedaa on Monday, July 29, 2024. TopMob subsequently announced that Vedaa had obtained its certification from the CBFC.

Alongside John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh, Abhishek Banerjee will take on a significant part in the upcoming movie called Vedaa. Additionally, Tamannaah Bhatia will make an appearance in this film. Set to hit theaters on August 15, 2024, Vedaa is expected to face competition from Stree 2, which stars Rajkummar Rao and Tamannaah Bhatia. The director of this film is Nikkhil Advani, who previously worked with John Abraham on Batla House. Vedaa is a joint production by Zee Studios, Emmay Entertainment, and JA Entertainment.
