John Abraham was ready to star in the football movie titled “1911,” which recounted the triumph of the Mohun Bagan football team during the IFA Shield Final match in 1911. Enthusiasts eagerly awaited Abraham’s portrayal of Shibdas Bhaduri, who significantly contributed to the team’s success; however, production on this film has been postponed for the time being.
Speaking with PTI, the actor from Ek Villain Returns revealed that unfortunately, that movie won’t be made. Abraham explained that they have gone through multiple stages, and the concept is intriguing. However, there have been many football-themed films, and the question is whether to make another one. “We may consider it in the future,” he added, explaining that for now, they’ve put it on hold.
Originally, the movie was intended to be directed by Shoojit Sircar (director of Piku). However, it was eventually disclosed that Nikkhil Advani (producer of Kal Ho Naa Ho) took over the project instead. The film, which is now on hold, was planned to be produced by JA Entertainment, a production house owned by John.
Regarding the future endeavors of the actor known for Mumbai Saga, he is excited about the premier of his upcoming movie titled The Diplomat on March 14, 2025. This movie falls under the genre of political thrillers and is helmed by director Shivam Nair, with Bhushan Kumar’s T-series being one of the co-producers.
In this upcoming movie, the seasoned Bollywood performer takes on the character of J.P. Singh, who is depicted as the Deputy High Commissioner of India stationed in Islamabad. The film’s title hints at a narrative that promises to delve into complex international relationships, diplomacy, and various other intricacies.
