John Cena Makes History With 17th World Title at WrestleMania 41

On Sunday night, John Cena squared off against Cody Rhodes in a battle for the Unified WWE Championship. By overcoming Rhodes, Cena etched his name further into the record books by clinching his 17th world title at WrestleMania 41.

In an electrifying showdown, the two combatants faced off at the renowned “Show of Eternals.” To secure the victory, Cena, aided by Travis Scott, pinned Rhodes after thirty minutes. With this triumph, Cena surpassed the record for most world championships. Previously, he had been tied with Ric Flair on 16 titles. The chase for Rhodes began at the conclusion of the Elimination Chamber in March, where Cena joined forces with his longtime rival, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Prior to this announcement, Cena hinted that his move was so unexpected that fans would find it hard to believe he was truly retiring. He joked that people assume he’ll return because wrestlers never really retire, “There’s always one more match.” He added, “Every other wrestler is a scared, insecure loser,” before addressing the crowd and declaring, “You do not write history. Winners do.

Cena plans to retire from wrestling at the end of this year. After their final Smackdown on Friday, Cena told Rhodes, “Sunday will mark the last time I’ll step into a WrestleMania ring. No one has had the nerve to bring an end to their career like I am, and there’s nothing you can do to ready yourself for facing a man who knows this is his final fight.
