As a lifelong music enthusiast and political activist, I am thrilled to see the convergence of these two passions with the powerful voices of John Legend, Kerry Washington, Stevie Wonder, and LeToya Luckett-Coles joining Kamala Harris’ campaign. Their influence and reach will undoubtedly resonate strongly with Black voters across the country, especially as they highlight issues that directly affect our communities such as healthcare, economy, and reproductive rights.
John Legend, Kerry Washington, Stevie Wonder, and LeToya Luckett-Coles are using their vocal talents to support Kamala Harris’ political campaign in a fresh radio initiative intended to appeal to African American constituents.
The Democratic presidential nominee is launching their inaugural seven-digit “I Will Vote” advertisement campaign, with familiar voices featured in ads that will be published in 55 Black media outlets and broadcast on 48 Black radio stations nationwide.
The advertisements showcase prominent musicians, performers, and production figures advocating for Democrats’ efforts in reducing prescription drug costs, expanding reproductive healthcare options, and promoting an economy that benefits all citizens, all while emphasizing the significance of casting their votes.
As a dedicated fan and advocate myself, I’m excited to share this message: “I’m Kerry Washington, and I’m here to emphasize that your vote truly represents your voice, and your voice is what gives you power.” In my campaign, I encourage everyone to think about the future we want. If you’re yearning for an economy that benefits everyone, if you aim to reduce the cost of living, if you desire a president who prioritizes us and our communities, then make sure to exercise your power by voting.
In her advertisement, Luckett-Coles emphasizes that numerous women in various states are tragically losing their lives due to the rollback of reproductive healthcare rights. She urges everyone to exercise their voting power by attending polling stations and making their voices heard. She encourages action, stating that we have the potential to bring about change.
Folklore suggests that “Voting is the most effective method for ensuring the advancement we desire,” and Loretta emphasizes, “In this upcoming election, as well as every other one, your vote plays a crucial role in shaping our tomorrow.
Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime Harrison states that this investment underscores the Democrats’ steadfast dedication to connecting with Black voters via channels they are comfortable with and rely upon, such as trusted Black media personalities on radio, to provide them with essential voting resources for the most crucial election of our generation.
The ads are simultaneously unveiled, coinciding with Democrats connecting with young Black voters during their visit to Spelman College and Morehouse College for Spelhouse Homecoming this Saturday. This marks the conclusion of the DNC’s HBCU Homecoming Tour in collaboration with BET We V.O.T.E., which takes place at its final destination.
Brencia Berry, the National Political Director of the Democratic National Committee, emphasizes that black voters are the lifeblood of our party, and they’re not being overlooked or undervalued.
On Friday afternoon, Harris is likely to win over more voters when Beyoncé performs at her Houston rally.
