John Leguizamo’s John Wick Update Doesn’t Bode Well For His Future With The Franchise, But I Still Hope We See Aurelio Again For One Key Reason

In the first “John Wick” film, Keanu Reeves’ character John Wick spent time with John Leguizamo’s character Aurelio, the proprietor of a car shop who had informed Wick that Iosev Tarasov had stolen his vehicle. Later, Leguizamo appeared in “John Wick: Chapter 2,” but since then, he hasn’t been part of this acclaimed action series. Sadly, recent news about the actor suggests he might not reprise his role as Aurelio again, though I remain optimistic that there may be a way to resolve this issue, as there are still matters concerning his character that require resolution.

First, let me share some disappointing information. During a conversation with Collider regarding his upcoming 2025 film titled “Bob Trevino Likes It”, John Leguizamo expressed that there are no plans for him to reprise his role in another “John Wick” movie.

To put it simply, I was left out of two situations, which left me quite disappointed. I had a detailed history connected with those instances, but I prefer not to delve too deeply into it now.

In the home release of John Wick: Chapter 2, several additional scenes with Aurelio were included, such as his encounter with Santino D’Antonio, the film’s principal villain. Furthermore, it seems that more content was penned for John Leguizamo that didn’t ultimately appear in the final cut. It appears that this franchise holds a special place for him, and when it was proposed he might come back to return John Wick’s car, his response suggests he may be open to reprising the role of Aurelio.

I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one.

It’s clear why Leguizamo might still feel frustrated about the reduced role he had in “John Wick: Chapter 2”. Regardless of whether or not he could influence his inclusion in future “John Wick” films, that would depend on the creative team reaching out to him. However, concerning that car, I sincerely hope Leguizamo reconsiders if contacted, as I’m eager for the plot thread from “Chapter 2” to be wrapped up.

If you’d like a reminder, John Wick’s Boss 429 Mustang took significant damage during his rescue operation against Abram Tarasov. To check if the car could be repaired, John invited Aurelio over to his place, and Aurelio assured him that it was possible, though he quipped that it might not be ready until Christmas 2030. Take a look:

Initially, Chapter 2 concluded with John fleeing while a $14 million reward was placed on his head, making him an outlaw. After two more films, Chapter 4 wrapped up with John believed to be deceased. Is it clear-cut that we should consider Aurelio returning? This seems unlikely.

It seems that John Wick: Chapter 5 is indeed in the works, contrary to earlier statements by Keanu Reeves about his physical limitations. If John Wick is still alive, it’s high time he gets back his iconic car, and Aurelio is crucial for this storyline to unfold. However, if Chapter 5 doesn’t progress as planned, there’s a possibility that actor John Leguizamo could reappear in one of the spin-off projects, such as Donnie Yen’s Caine film or the High Table TV series focusing on the inner workings of the organization.

Essentially, I understand that Leguizamo seems reluctant about re-entering the John Wick universe, and there’s no sign of him doing so anytime soon. However, I’m hoping against hope that things might change in a different direction. John’s car has been sitting idle for far too long, and it just feels fitting if anyone were to drive it again, it should be Aurelio. Furthermore, it’s high time we explore more about his background!
