In an interview with Screen Rant, actor John Lithgow revealed his plans to portray Dumbledore in HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series. He also discussed his decision to dedicate a significant portion of his remaining professional years to this new adaptation. The television series aims to adapt each book into a full season, ensuring its longevity on air for several years. Lithgow remarked that he would be “approaching 87 years old at the wrap party.
I was taken aback when I received the call during the Sundance Film Festival – another film offer is on its way! This one’s tricky because it will significantly shape my final years, and that has me worried. Yet, I can’t contain my excitement. It seems the spotlight is returning to Harry Potter, which makes my decision tough. When the wrap party comes around, I’ll be nearly 87, but I’ve agreed to participate.
Lithgow is set to follow in the footsteps of Michael Gambon, Richard Harris, and Jude Law by portraying Albus Dumbledore in Harry Potter’s live-action film adaptations on the big screen.
