John Mulaney and Olivia Munn Announce Arrival of Second Child: “My Heart Has Exploded”

As a long-time fan who has watched John Mulaney and Olivia Munn‘s journey unfold, I must say their resilience and determination to build their family is truly inspiring. The arrival of their second child, Méi June Mulaney, is nothing short of miraculous given the challenges they have faced.

On Sunday, it was announced by John Mulaney and Olivia Munn that they have had their second child, a baby girl, who arrived through the help of a gestational surrogate. Olivia shared this news on her social media platforms.

In an Instagram post, Munn expressed deep feelings about not being able to give birth to her daughter due to medical reasons. She had revealed earlier that she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent a hysterectomy as part of her treatment. When she first met their gestational surrogate, they connected as mothers. The surrogate showed Munn incredible kindness and understanding, making it clear that she was a true angel to us. I can’t find the right words to express my gratitude for keeping our baby safe for nine months and fulfilling our dreams.

Mulaney shared the news of his daughter’s birth on social media, expressing his deep affection by saying, “I adore my little one to pieces.” Additionally, he playfully mentioned, “We managed to swipe quite a bit from the hospital.

On September 14, 2024, baby Méi June Mulaney arrived, marking the Year of the Dragon according to the Chinese calendar. The name ‘Méi’ means ‘plum’.

Munn expressed great pride in her tiny pet dragon, who braved the trip to join them. She was overcome with joy and emotion.

Actresses Natasha Munn and John Mulaney became parents to their 3-year-old son Malcolm back in 2021. Tragically, in 2023, Munn was diagnosed with cancer and underwent chemotherapy, as well as several surgeries. In May of 2024, she shared her experience with a hysterectomy and revealed that she had preserved her eggs multiple times prior to the surgery, which ultimately produced two healthy embryos.

Pregnancy is like a partnership between you and the baby, striving together to create their tiny existence, as Munn expressed to Vogue. You’re dedicated to eating healthily, managing stress, and ensuring a safe pregnancy. With a surrogate, it becomes a mission to find someone who embodies your essence in another body. It’s essential to trust this person as much as you trust yourself to live their pregnancy life just as you would. Initially, the idea of a surrogate might have seemed daunting, but now, given my circumstances, it’s not scary anymore because I can’t carry a baby myself. If we desire to expand our family, this is the path we must take. This experience has made me incredibly grateful for the options available not only in fighting cancer but also in having more children if we wish, as many people aren’t so fortunate.
