As a die-hard John Wick fan with a decade-long history of witnessing Keanu Reeves’ unparalleled action mastery, I can’t help but feel my heart race at the news of another TV series in the making! The prospect of delving deeper into the intricate and exhilarating world of John Wick is simply too tantalizing to resist.
The John Wick franchise is eyeing another TV iteration.
Keanu Reeves, who starred in four films as the title character, and director Chad Stahelski are involved in producing a potential TV series about John Wick’s sequel, which is currently being developed by Lionsgate Television. Robert Levine, known for his work on shows like “The Old Man” and “Black Sails,” has been assigned as the writer and showrunner for this project, titled “John Wick: Under the High Table.”
Daniel Stahelski, responsible for directing all four John Wick movies and holding creative control over the series through an agreement with Lionsgate, is additionally slated to direct the initial episode of the upcoming series. Lionsgate, the production company behind the billion-dollar franchise, is actively seeking out potential buyers for the spin-off show titled Under the High Table.
If it proceeds, “Under the High Table” will be the second TV series in the “John Wick” franchise. In 2023, Peacock streamed the prequel miniseries titled “The Continental“, which focuses on the hotel that serves as a sanctuary for the assassins central to the storyline.
Following the events of “John Wick: Chapter 4,” we’ll delve into the world of the High Table. The show’s tagline goes, “John Wick finds himself in a precarious position outside the High Table, and a fresh cast of characters seeks to establish their own reputation, while some familiar faces remain loyal to the ancient order. The series blends old and new elements, propelling the John Wick universe into a new era.”
In addition to considering a potential TV series, Lionsgate also plans two standalone movies set within the John Wick universe: “Ballerina,” slated for 2025 with Ana de Armas in the lead role, and a film focusing on Donnie Yen’s character, Caine.
87Eleven Entertainment, led by Stahelski, will serve as an executive producer on the project titled “Under the High Table” along with Reeves, Levine, Iwanyk from Thunder Road, and Erica Lee.
Stahelski is repped by WME, attorney Tara Kole and Mortimer PR.
