Jon Bernthal’s Future As Punisher Has Already Been Revealed After Daredevil Return, And I Think It’s Perfect

Marvel enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the arrival of a long-discussed event: “Daredevil: Born Again” is set to premiere on the 2025 TV schedule, bringing back beloved characters such as Karen Page, Foggy Nelson, and Frank Castle (yes, that’s right, Punisher too!).

Drawing inspiration from what appears to be a recurring theme in my subconscious, as depicted in my dream journal adorned with Castle-like symbols, Marvel has indeed hinted at another exhilarating escapade for the formidable Punisher, portrayed by Jon Bernthal once again. This isn’t exactly a continuation of Netflix’s “Punisher” series, but it certainly feels like the next best option to me, and could potentially be a more strategic choice than immediately launching into a standalone limited series.

The Punisher Will Return For A Marvel Special Presentation

According to Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s TV head who has been speaking more openly, the decision to carry on The Punisher’s influence stemmed from when Daredevil: Born Again was being produced. It became evident that the story of the widower shouldn’t end there. And it seems that it will be as action-packed as fans are anticipating, as Winderbaum expressed to Entertainment Weekly.

The narrative carries a rapid-fire intensity reminiscent of a shotgun blast, yet it retains all the heart-wrenching empathy and raw emotion characteristic of a Punisher tale. Truly exhilarating!

It seems like they could simply name the Special Presentation “Shotguns and Pathos”, wouldn’t you agree? I don’t think the actual title will be any more direct or grandiose than that.

Jon Bernthal Is Co-Writing The Punisher Special

Apart from reappearing in front of the camera in “The Walking Dead” with a black wardrobe, Jon Bernthal is also deeply involved behind the scenes. It has been confirmed that he will be contributing to co-writing duties for The Punisher’s standalone storyline. This should make the eventual viewing experience even more authentically powerful.

Brad Winderbaum praised the actor of “We Own This City” for his unique portrayal and the impact he delivers in the role of Frank Castle, expressing his admiration.

As a passionate film enthusiast, I can’t help but admire Bernthal’s acting prowess. He embodies every character he plays, but it’s his portrayal of Frank Castle that truly stands out. His understanding of the character is unparalleled, and it shows in his performances.

Now, let me tell you, I’m a big Punisher fan, but Jon’s version of the character is exceptional. The idea of him being part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and bringing that unique interpretation to a broader universe, particularly the gritty street-level narratives, is a fantastic opportunity. As a fan, it’s nothing short of amazing.

I’m crossing my fingers that this Special Presentation will link enough details to entice Frank Castle into the broader multiverse narrative, allowing us to witness his signature violent encounters in the Russo brothers’ upcoming Marvel films such as Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars. While it might seem unlikely, I can only hope for and appreciate this potential development.

At this point, we’re not sure when The Punisher will reappear after the end of Daredevil, nor when filming will begin, but rest assured, we’ll be on the edge of our seats, eagerly waiting for further updates.
