As a long-time gamer and fan of hidden camera shows, I couldn’t be more excited about Jordan Peele‘s revival of “Scare Tactics”! This isn’t just any hidden camera show; it’s a cinematic approach with terrifying situations that will leave me laughing, jumping, and on the edge of my seat.
Jordan Peele is bringing back the hidden camera prank show.
The Oscar-winning Get Out filmmaker is reviving Scare Tactics, which originally launched on Syfy in 2003 and ran for five seasons. The series debuted just one month after MTV’s Punk’d and featured ordinary people being put into terrifying situations with the help of professional Hollywood special effects, stunt and makeup teams.
In “Scare Tactics,” unsuspecting people become the stars of their own horror films. The series combines humor with heart-stopping moments, giving a movie-like feel to pranks. Friends and family orchestrate these elaborate setups, drawing the participants into bizarre and suspenseful situations. As they face impossible choices, viewers will be entertained by the laughter, jumps, and exhilarating uncertainty.
Win Rosenfeld, president of Monkeypaw Productions, expressed his gratitude in a statement: “We’re thrilled at Monkeypaw to be part of revamping one of our beloved hidden camera shows. Collaborating with Elan Gale, an inventive and playful mind in unscripted TV, and Scott Hallock, the genius behind the original ‘Scare Tactics,’ has been a joyous experience. Laughing at people’s mild fright and the outrageous situations we’ve concocted for this season is both relieving and amusing. We can’t wait to bring a dose of harmless schadenfreude to viewers soon.”
Creator Hallock expressed: “Reviving ‘Scare Tactics’ alongside Jordan, Monkeypaw, and UTAS has been a long-awaited delight. For years, fans have hoped to see the return of this show, and collaborating with such a talented team was an unparalleled experience.”
As a long-time fan of suspenseful and comedic television shows, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news with fellow enthusiasts! Having grown up watching “Scare Tactics” and its unique blend of fear and humor, I can hardly contain my enthusiasm for the rebooted version. With production by Universal Television Alternative Studio and Monkeypaw, this revival is set to grace our screens on USA Network sometime this fall. The anticipation is palpable!
