JT Reflects on Life Before Stardom in New Documentary ‘The Making of City Cinderella’

In the beginning of her documentary titled “City Cinderella,” the rapper introduces herself as Jatavia Johnson, but is more widely recognized as JT.

Currently available for streaming, this 22-minute short film explores the past and rise to fame of a well-known rapper, starting from her initial encounter with Quality Control’s executives. Amidst the promise of stardom, JT reflects on how her career with City Girls was just beginning when she was unexpectedly sent to prison due to fraudulent credit card offenses.

Until her sentencing, she continued producing music videos and recording; afterward, she spent more than a year in a Florida prison.

JT reflects on the overwhelming love and encouragement she received upon her release from prison, which propelled the City Girls forward. Simultaneously, as her career gained momentum, she encountered the scrutiny and demands that come hand in hand with fame.

At the same time as unveiling the documentary, JT has revealed the tracklist for her long-awaited “City Cinderella” mixtape. This 16-track project is set to be released on June 20 and includes collaborations with Stunna Girl, Jeezy, and CLIP.
