Julia Fox Drama Gets a Unionized Crew After Brief IATSE Picket

As a seasoned film enthusiast who has witnessed the ebb and flow of the industry for decades, I must say that the unionization of the crew for Julia Fox‘s upcoming romantic drama “Perfect” is a heartening development. It’s refreshing to see the collective power of workers asserting their rights, especially in an era where independent productions are often overlooked.

The team behind the romantic drama featuring Julia Fox decided to join the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE), following a short protest of their set on Thursday.

Workers involved in the production of the movie titled “Perfect,” a queer romantic drama featuring Ashley Moore (known for “I Know What You Did Last Summer”) and Micaela Wittman (familiar from “Shirley”), managed to secure a union contract following a six-hour strike on Thursday. This information comes from The Hollywood Reporter. Apparently, the director Millicent Hailes, who has previously directed music videos for artists like Lil Yachty, Adam Lambert, and Young Thug, was supportive of their cause, which sped up the negotiations process.

Following the request from the crew for union representation, it’s been reported that one producer attempted to persuade union representatives with bottles of wine. However, by Thursday evening, the production team in Simi Valley had reached a union agreement which was unanimously approved by the crew. As a result, they were able to resume work immediately afterward.

Effective as of this past Friday, all employees within the sectors governed by IATSE are now operating under a collective bargaining agreement, according to a spokesperson for IATSE.

Freenjoy, known for creating music videos for artists such as Kendrick Lamar, Drake, Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Lopez (in “This is Me… Now: A Love Story”), and Beyoncé (“Black Is King”), is taking charge of the production. Additionally, Steak and Rosé Films and Artak Pictures are contributing to the film’s creation, as indicated by its IMDb listing.

THR has requested comment from Freenjoy, Steak and Rosé Films and Artak Pictures.

The drama unfolds as it portrays the romantic tale between a prosperous pregnant lady and a younger woman, set against the picturesque yet run-down lakeside resort in the California mountains during an extreme dry spell.
