Andrew Garfield and Ayo Edebiri unveiled a suspenseful early preview of their upcoming thriller, “After the Hunt,” at CinemaCon.
Director Luca Guadagnino gathered with his co-stars to share glimpses of the upcoming Amazon MGM Studios movie, titled “After the Hunt.” Scheduled for release in select theaters on October 10, followed by a wider release the next week, this production from Imagine Entertainment features Julia Roberts, alongside Timothée Chalamet and Bo Burnham. The plot revolves around a university professor (Roberts) who is compelled to face her hidden past when one of her students (Edebiri) accuses one of her colleagues (Garfield) of misconduct.
Garfield shared that he’s long aspired to collaborate with Luca for about 15 to 20 years, and now, at last, they’ve had the opportunity to do so,” he told the audience. He described Guadagnino’s work as “rich, sensual, and uplifting.
Edebiri stated, “This film is designed for sharing with others to spark conversations, ponder upon, and simply experience together.
The trailer depicts Edebiri approaching Roberts, sharing her concerns with her. “He overstepped boundaries,” Edebiri states about Garfield’s character. “He persisted even after I declined.
In a following sequence, Garfield confides in Roberts, “I had my doubts about her originality in her work.” Later, he refers to the student disparagingly as “this deceptive young woman.
The scene concludes as Edebiri tells Roberts, “I’m not at ease discussing this topic with you any longer.” Roberts replies, “Not all things are meant to provide comfort.
Michael Stuhlbarg and Chloë Sevigny round out the cast.
Nora Garrett wrote the screenplay for the film, which was directed by Guadagnino. The producers for this project are Guadagnino himself, Brian Grazer, Jeb Brody, and Allan Mandelbaum from Imagine’s team. It was Mandelbaum who introduced the script to the production company and collaborated with CAA to secure both Roberts and Guadagnino for the roles.
Following the conclusion of his hunt, Luca Guadagnino has reconnected with Amazon MGM Studios – the same studio that distributed his film starring Zendaya, “Challengers,” from last year. His other directorial works include “Call Me by Your Name” (2017), “Suspiria” (2018), “Bones and All” (2022) and the upcoming project, “Queer” (2024).
As a fervent admirer, I’m thrilled to share that my latest cinematic ventures have been quite noteworthy. Recently, I graced the screen in the heartwarming Universal romantic comedy “Ticket to Paradise,” partnered with George Clooney. Last year, I also had the privilege of being part of the Netflix thriller “Leave the World Behind” alongside the talented duo, Mahershala Ali and Ethan Hawke. What a journey it’s been!
Every year, CinemaCon takes place, which is a gathering for cinema exhibitors and Hollywood film studios, happening this year from March 31st to April 3rd. This event is organized by Cinema United, previously known as the National Association of Theatre Owners.
