Julianne Moore And Tilda Swinton Got A 17-Minute Ovation At Venice But I’d Rather Watch This Silly Video Of George Clooney And Brad Pitt Dancing During Wolfs' Applause

As a gamer with a soft spot for movies, especially those that have stood the test of time, I must admit that the standing ovations at this year’s Venice Film Festival have certainly piqued my interest. The 17-minute applause for Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton’s drama, “The Room Next Door,” sounds like a promising start, but it’s George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s dance-off during the standing ovation for their movie, “Wolfs,” that has truly won my heart.

What a thrill to witness the acclaimed standing ovations at the Venice Film Festival! These moments of applause are frequently seen as indicators of the great movies debuting there. However, it’s important to remember that the length of the ovation doesn’t necessarily equate to the films’ overall quality. Nevertheless, this year has already seen two noteworthy instances of standing ovations for upcoming projects: Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton’s drama titled “The Room Next Door” and Brad Pitt and George Clooone’s’s action——-a-hem-hemWolfs“, an action comedy, I suppose!

Julianne Moore And Tilda Swinton Basically Won Venice With A 17-Minute Standing Ovation

Initially, Julianne Moore and Tilda Swinton left audiences of “The Room Next Door” breathless on Monday, September 2nd. The film elicited a standing ovation that lasted an astonishing 17 minutes – the longest applause at this year’s festival to date. In comparison, Angelina Jolie’s movie “Maria“, where she gracefully entered in an elegant gown, received eight minutes of applause, while the film “Queer” led by Daniel Craig garnered nine minutes

Titled “The Room Next Door,” this film marks the first full-length English production by acclaimed Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar. The story revolves around two longtime friends, Martha and Ingrid, whose lives intertwine once again when Martha discovers that her friend Ingrid is battling cancer

It sounds like a deeply emotional film and one that I can’t wait to see, especially after that standing ovation.

But, George Clooney And Brad Pitt Won My Heart By Dancing During Wolfs’ Venice Applause

That’s all well and good, but my favorite instance of Venice standing ovations I’ve seen this year has to be from Brad Pitt and George Clooney for Wolfs. The pair famously worked together in the 2000s on the Ocean’s movies and the Coen Brothers’ Burn After Reading back in 2008. Now, for the first time in years, they have come back together to work on Jon Watts’ Wolfs. Check out what happened when they received an extended applause:

What a fantastic moment! Two well-known film actors, seemingly donned in identical tuxedos, shared an emotional hug following the film’s screening, before gracefully dancing together in celebration of the heartwarming response from the audience

There are numerous motivations for the actors in the movie to perform a dance, given that “Wolves” has been receiving considerable acclaim from critics since its debut. For instance, TopMob’s review of “Wolves” has been very positive, and our site even awarded it 3.5 out of 5 stars. Mike Reyes, in his review, noted that “Clooney and Pitt never falter, as their extensive acting resumes provide them the necessary understanding to fully utilize the potential of this latest production.”

So, yeah, I think the dance was warranted.

“Wolves” will premiere in selected theaters on September 20, followed by its availability on AppleTV+ a week later, on September 27. In contrast, “The Room Next Door” is set to debut in select theaters on Christmas Day, and will expand to wider release in January 2025 – perfectly timed to generate Oscar buzz after its highly anticipated moment of acclaim
